This legendary Irish band has been added to the On The Waterfront 2025 lineup

On The Waterfront will return to the Pier Head, Liverpool from Friday 20 June 2025.

The Wolfe Tones, one of Ireland’s most legendary and renowned bands, have just been announced as headliners at On the Waterfront festival which returns to Liverpool’s iconic Pier Head from 19th – 22nd June 2025.

Headlining Friday 20th June, The Wolfe Tones prepare to bid farewell to their English fans in what will be their final show in England.

With a career spanning over six decades, The Wolfe Tones’ journey from humble beginnings in Dublin has become the stuff of legend.   Childhood friends Brian Warfield, Noel Nagle and Tommy Byrne began performing together in the early 60’s, sharing their love for Irish folk music at local fleadhs and quickly gaining a devoted following.   Since then, they have graced the world’s most prestigious stages, including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Paris Olympia and now Liverpool’s waterfront.  Their influence has reached across the globe, with enduring popularity in the United Stages, where they have been honoured with the keys to both New York and Los Angeles.

Brian Warfield, The Wolfe Tones said:

“The city of Liverpool will always hold a special place in the hearts of Irish immigrants into Britain.  Over the years, it has also held a special place in the hearts of The Wolfe Tones.  The memories of the great occasions in the city including at the Liverpool Irish Centre will live long in the memory.  It is only fitting that The Wolfe Tones headline a major outdoor event as part of our Final Farewell performances and we promise that it is going to be a special occasion in a very special city!”

The Wolfe Tones’ songs such as ‘Celtic Symphony’ and ‘Let the People Sing’ have become anthems, resonating with generations and solidifying their place as the world’s most celebrated Irish folk group.

After a monumental summer that saw them headlining Finsbury Park and the record-breaking Electric Picnic in Ireland, where they drew the largest crowd in the festival’s history, the demand to see The Wolfe Tones one last time has been extraordinary.   Their recent stadium shows in Ireland sold out 27,000 tickets in under an hour.

As they return to Liverpool for one final night of unforgettable music, memories and Irish pride, tickets are expected to sell out fast.   Fans are encouraged to sign up now for presale access to secure their chance to witness this ‘final farewell’.
