This new Liverpool traineeship scheme will guarantee a brighter future for the city’s young adults

Looking for work can seem like an endless search and, with so many job losses caused by COVID, that hunt can seem harder than ever right now.

But The Learning Foundry in Liverpool can offer young people help to get the skills they need – and businesses are looking for. 

Its 19-24 Programme will provide 12 weeks of FREE training with a guaranteed job placement to offer vital experience, as well as a job interview at the end of it.

So, along with hope for a brighter future, they could soon be securing a wage!

“19-24 traineeships are a fantastic concept and offer direct routes into employment, which is critical for young people in our region right now, as one of the groups most economically damaged by the pandemic.

“Almost 75% of our 16-18 year old trainees progress to a positive destination, and we’re excited to extend these opportunities and make talent shine for 19-24 year olds.”

The Programme has been launched after The Learning Foundry won a £1,004,000 grant from the Education and Skills Funding Agency to deliver traineeship programmes across the City Region and the North West.

The programmes are designed to give young people the skills and experience they’ll need to progress to apprenticeship or employment – such as CV writing and interview techniques, vocational skills in sector-specific areas, and functional skills in English and Maths – before beginning high quality on-the-job training.

The Learning Foundry will work with trusted local employers to identify work experience placements, as well as encouraging employers to explore initiatives such as the government’s Kickstart Scheme – which provides funding to create new job placements for 16 to 24 year olds on Universal Credit who are at risk of long term unemployment – and apprenticeships to secure routes into successful careers for trainees.

Register by this Friday (March 19) to sign up for one of the first four courses on offer:

* Childcare – You’ll gain an accredited qualification by studying a Level 2 Certificate in Childcare, as well as gaining a Paediatric First Aid qualification.  You’ll get a guaranteed work placement, and once your programme is complete, an interview for a paid job with a top local employer.

* Health and Social Care – An accredited Level 2 Certificate in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care, as well as a First Aid qualification is offered.  You’ll get a guaranteed work placement with a Health and Social Care provider, and once completed, an interview for a paid job.

* Housing – You’ll study a CIH-accredited Level 2 Certificate in Housing to get the sector-specific skills you’ll need, plus a work placement! You’ll also get a guaranteed interview for a job at The Regenda Group, with roles available in construction, housing, marketing, and more.

* Dental – You’ll study sector-specific skills to develop your knowledge of the dental industry, as well as gaining a First Aid qualification. As a dental trainee, you’ll get the chance to experience the workplace at a quality local dental practice, and once your traineeship is complete, a job interview.

Learners must be aged 19-24, unemployed and not in education to register for any of the courses.
