This Week in Liverpool: 15th-21st October 2018

This is your run down of the biggest and best events taking place in and around the city this week.

Calling all film buffs, quiz egg heads, students, footy fans, anyone with an Irish connection and those who love a good stein and pretzel, there’s plenty in store for you this week in Liverpool. There’s international footy, celeb’s don their boots For James and the Halloween fun gets a head start for families and big kids alike.

Monday 15th October

Monday Quiz Night, Heebie Jeebies, Seel Street

Start your week with a win! Heebies Monday Quick night kicks off at 9pm so get down early to secure your stools for just £1 entry. Info here. 

Spain V England, The Hatch Bar, Mathew Street

There’s International footy action on Monday night as Spain take on England in the UEFA Nations League. Get down to The Hatch Bar on Mathew St to watch it live on the big screen. Pizza and a pint for £6. Info here.

Nightmare on Elm Street, Café Tabac

Monday Film Club at Café Tabac, Bold St takes a sinister turn in preparation for Halloween this week. Wes Craven’s classic slasher flick starts at 6pm. Oh Johnny Depp! More info and tickets here. 


Tuesday 16th October

The Fashion of Counter Culture, John Lennon Art & Design Building

Fashion trends and Liverpool go together like salt and vinegar and The Fashion of Counter Culture exhibition at LJMU’s John Lennon Art & Design Building proves it. Go and see it this week for loads of ‘OMG REMEMBER THEM’ moments! Info here. 

LOST £1 Party, Invisible Wind Factory

Resident DJ’s Dan Fresco, Liam Ross and Sam Parker will be bringing the beats to Invisible Wind Factory’s LOST £1 party on Tuesday night from 11pm. Expect visual screens, lasers and banging beats. Info and tickets here. 

Flight Night Tuesdays, Craft Taproom

Craft Taproom on Smithdown Rd invites you to treat yourself for a beer flight for just £4 this Tuesday from 4pm. Test out a whole selection of interesting crafty beers in threes ( PS, there’s 23 to choose from, maybe book Wednesday off work). Info here. 


Wednesday 17th October

Wedding Open Evening, Sefton Park Palm House

Vinyl Junkie Presents: Saint Agnes, The Shipping Forecast

Saint Agnes plays The Shipping Forecast on Wednesday night as part of their ‘The Death or Glory Gang’ tour. If you’re into garage/rock with Zepplin style swagger, this is the gig of the week for you. Tickets here. 

Alice in Wonderland Social, LEVEL

Hey students! Gotten over your epic freshers hang over? Ready to go again? Get to LEVEL on Wednesday night for an Alice in Wonderland Social. Dress up as your fave character, party starts at 9pm at McCooleys. Info here. 


Thursday 18th October

Sound & Silence Cinema: Metropolis, Tusk Baltic

There’s a night of stylised drama at Tusk Baltic on Thursday night as German science fiction flick, Metropolis is screened with live music, themed drinks plenty of popcorn and a fabulous atmosphere. Tickets here. 

Jinkx Monsoon is Cursed, Hangar 34

Winner of the fifth season of RuPaul’s Drag Race, Jinkx Monsoon brings her new full length, one-woman show to Hangar 34 on Thursday at 7pm. Meet and greet from 6pm, show at 8pm. Tickets and info here.

Liverpool Irish Festival Launch

Liverpool Irish Festival, a 10 day celebration of our Irish heritage, kicks off this week at the Liverpool Irish Centre, Boundary Lane and obviously involves a big old bowl of Irish stew and a pint of the black stuff! More info here. 


Friday 19th October

Oktoberfest at The Lodge, The Club House

There’s a free, two-day celebration of all things Bavarian this weekend as The Club House Lodge launches Oktoberfest. There’s live music and fab food and drinks packages and one seriously gorgeous venue to hang out in. Info here. 

Sing-A-Long Cinema: Rocky Horror Show, CIRCO

Oh ey Janet it’s going to get loud at CIRCO this Friday night as you get your freaky on with a sing-a-long cinema. Its just a jump to the right to get into the Halloween spirit, get your fancy dress on and tuck into the free popcorn. Tickets here. 

The Best of Hip Hop, Incredible 11, ON AIR

Back to perform amazing renditions of all your favourite HIP HOP hits from the 90`S to 00`S, the Incredible 11 play live at ON AIR this Friday night from 8pm. Snoop would approve. Tickets here. 


Saturday 20th October

Jack White, Space by Liverpool Echo Arena

As part of a 15 date European Tour, Jack White plays Space by the Echo Arena on Saturday. Performing new album ‘ Boarding House Reach’ his third consecutive US number 1 album, for one night only. Tickets here. 

The Vogue Ball, Invisible Wind Factory

The Vogue Ball returns this Saturday with the theme, Toy Box Ball. The festivities take place at Invisible Wind Factory at 7:30pm. Not for the faint hearted, this jaw-dropping performance mixes culture, style and attitude. Tickets here. 

Silent Adventures Bohemian Rhapsody

Sunday 21st October

A Charity Football Match, For James, Prenton Park

Our second footy fix of the week comes in the shape of a celeb-filled charity game at Prenton Park, For James. Tranmere Rovers’ home ground will play host to actors from Hollyoaks, EastEnders, music stars and famous local faces in support of the James Bulger Memorial Fund. Get your tickets here. 

Speakeasy Bootleg Band at Frederik’s, Hope Street

Sunday night swing is back at Frederik’s this weekend and it’s free admission too. Get yourself an expertly poured G&T, grab a comfy seat from 7:30pm and get dooooown. More info here. 

Sax Sunday’s, Grand Central Food Bazaar

If fabulous food, tchilled out beats and a totally unique venue is how you like to spend a Sunday, then head to Grand Central Food Bazaar from 2pm. More than 12 different vendors are serving up a variety of cuisines and there’s like sax from Lauren Leah. Info here.

Championed by BBC Introducing in Merseyside, The Ambition have been announced as the headline act for a Cavern Club fundraiser that is set to raise thousands for a national blood cancer charity.
