This Week in Liverpool 1st – 7th April 2019

As event-packed weeks go in the city, it doesn’t get much bigger than this!


The first week of April brings a brand new buzz to what’s on this week in Liverpool. The world will be watching as the Randox Health Grand National draws glamorous crowds of thousands to Aintree Racecourse and we’ll be right in the thick of it on @TheGuideLpool.

Elsewhere, Liverpool ONE is spoiling students with freebies, The Zutons come home, Kinky Boots continues at the Empire, it’s Ping Pong tastic down at Camp & Furnace, Game Of Thrones comes to Ma Boyle’s and we’ve got your Sunday hangover cures at the Baltic Market and Baby E Coffee too.

Monday 1st April

 Brunch, Castle Street Coffee

A Game of Thrones Quiz, Ma Boyle’s Alehouse

Good Cop, Bad Cop, Phase One

Tuesday 2nd April

Ravin Fit Reminisce Special, Floral Pavilion

Lee Butler is back at New Brighton’s Floral Pavilion on Tuesday night for a Ravin Fit session like no other. Joining him on the decks is Steve Cocky for 60 minutes of pure, unadulterated club classic work out. More here. 

Lunch at Wro, West Kirby

Grand Opening Day – The Randox Health Grand National, Aintree Racecourse

The eyes of the world are on Aintree from early doors this Thursday as The Randox Health Grand National 2019 kicks off with Grand Opening Day. A full afternoon of racing with entertainment from The Mersey Beatles and of course, all the glamour! Our full event guide and tickets are here.

Ping Pong Fight Club, Camp & Furnace

Else where in the city the competition is hotting up at Camp & Furnace as Ping Pong Fight Club returns to sort the pro’s from the have-a-goes. This brilliant battle brings VR Ping Pong, robot challenges, street food, pop up bars and more all under one roof. Sign up here. 

Variety Film Club, My Fair Lady, Royal Court Theatre

Friday 5th April

Ladies Day, The Randox Health Grand National, Aintree Racecourse

It’s finally here! #FabulousFriday kicks off from 10:30am at Aintree Racecourse where our Jay joins the Style Award judging panel and our Gemma will be out and about amongst the crowds of glamorous guys and girls. Will you be crowned this years most stylish and take home a Range Rover Evoque? All the info here.

Yard Summer Opening Week, Yard

Yard Summer re-opening parties kick off this week and if you’re not going to the Grand National, this is a boss place to get your own party started. 4pm – 11pm Friday No Fakin, Pooky and Jimmy Allen join the line up. More here.

The Grand National, Aintree Racecourse

The biggest day in the horse racing calendar is here. The Randox Health Grand National 2019 will see an estimated 50,000 people descend on Aintree including the one and only Pete Price who is joining our Jay on Saturday to bring you all the action as it happens throughout the day. Jason Mandford ‘Muddle Class’, M&S Bank Arena

Jason Manford plays the M&S Bank Arena this Saturday and after a stint on tv and bossing it on Absolute Radio, he’s back on stage with his show. ‘Muddle Class’ promises to feature a wealth of new material about growing up ‘working class’. Tickets here. 

Craft Taproom 2nd Birthday, Craft Taproom

Craft Taproom, Smithdown is celebrating its (almost) 2nd birthday on Saturday with an old skool party. Expect cake, DJs, maybe pass the parcel, perhaps a game of musical statues, and of course a whole load of tasty beer. More here.
