Tiber Young producers commission artist Neil Keating to co-create stunning mural for new Lodge Lane building
4 hours ago

A bold new mural designed by young creatives from Liverpool’s L8 community has been unveiled today at the soon-to-open Tiber Centre on Lodge Lane.
Created by the Tiber Young Producers — a passionate group of 14–18-year-olds — the striking artwork is the result of a powerful collaboration with Tate Liverpool and acclaimed street artist Neil Keating, whose vibrant, pop-inspired style can be seen across the city.
The mural, which now welcomes visitors to the new Tiber building, is a celebration of the area’s energy, culture, and community spirit — and a reflection of the young people’s vision for change.
After previously teaming up with Neil on the award-winning The Threads That Bind Us project last summer, the group reunited with him to help bring their ideas to life. Through a series of creative workshops supported by Tate Liverpool, the young producers explored what Tiber means to them and developed a design brief grounded in identity, activism, and local pride.

N’Kias Coker said:
“This project has really given us a more detailed understanding about what can go on in the world such as racism, not giving us young people a voice out there to express our opinions. It’s also helping our community to see how we can help and make a difference in the future.”
Kelyce Morris-Browne added:
“Working with Neil has been an amazing experience and I have had so much fun working with him through the Threads That Bind Us project and with him helping us through our mural.”

The Tiber Centre, which officially opens next month, will offer new facilities for sport, education, and culture in the heart of L8. This mural is the latest example of how art and creativity are playing a vital role in shaping and inspiring the area.
Tate Liverpool has worked closely with the Tiber Young Producers for more than three years, backing projects like Future Forecast — an audiovisual piece created with Turner Prize-winning artist Mark Leckey — and The Threads That Bind Us, which picked up a Community Cohesion Award at this year’s Liverpool City Region Culture & Creativity Awards.
With the mural now in place, it’s clear the next generation of artists and changemakers in Liverpool are already leaving their mark.
