Titanic Hotel to host Black Tie Winter Ball in aid of Woodlands Hospice

Who’s dusting off their tux and glamming up for the Woodland Ball on Saturday?

The annual Diamond in the Sky charity fundraising event, in aid of Liverpool based Woodlands Hospice, takes place at the stunning Rum Warehouse on Saturday 11th November 2017.

More than 300 guests will descend on the Titanic Hotel to enjoy an evening of great entertainment, delicious food and of course, raise much needed funds for Woodlands Hospice. Organised by Diamond in the Sky Founder, Alison Perry, in memory of her close friend Julie Riley-McLinden who spent her final weeks a Woodlands Hospice following a battle with cancer.

This special, annual event has grown from a casual gathering at Crosby Comrades Club to a sold out Black Tie event at one of the city’s most sought after venues, in a few short years as family, friends and colleagues come together to not only celebrate the lives of loved ones but also support the vital services that Woodlands Hospice provides.

Woodlands Hospice, in Aintree, provides specialist palliative care for people with cancer and other life limiting illnesses, plus a wide range of support treatments and services for patients and their families. The hospice needs a minimum of £3000 per day to continue to operate and so fundraising events and activities such as the Woodland Ball are vital.

Sponsoring the Woodland Ball is Liverpool based company Advanced Wind Solutions Ltd. Julie was instrumental in the formation of Advanced Wind Solutions, her drive and enthusiasm were second to none and coupled with her warm personality and never failing sense of humour she was indispensable to the business. Directors Chris Lewis and Gary Dunne have also named Woodlands Hospice as their chosen charity for this year.

Alison said: “Julie loved getting dressed up for an occasion so I think it’s quite fitting that this fundraising event is black tie, giving others the opportunity to really go for it, the guys in their Dickie bows and the ladies in a bit of glitz, Julie would have loved it.

“It’s a fun yet poignant evening, there’s usually a few tears during the speeches but above all else, its a chance to celebrate the fantastic work Woodland’s Hospice does, and can hopefully continue to do with the money that’s raised on the night.”

On the night guests will be treated to a drinks reception plus live entertainment from saxophonist, Mike Smith and Liverpool based band Da-Capo Dance and of course enjoy a sumptuous three course dinner. Tickets for this years event are now completely sold out, however Alison is now taking enquiries about two very special events planned for 2018, that you won’t want to miss.

Liverpool’s first ever Lip Sync Battle in aid of Woodlands Hospice took place just a few weeks ago at Camp & Furnace and it was a truly spectacular night.
