Travel advice issued for fans ahead of Liverpool FC Victory Parade
31 minutes ago

Liverpool City Region Combined Authority has issued important travel advice in anticipation of the large crowds expected to attend Liverpool Football Club’s Premier League victory parade on Bank Holiday Monday, 26 May.
The event will celebrate the club’s record-equalling 20th English top-flight title, with an open-top bus carrying the team along a nine-mile route through the city. Beginning at 2:30pm from Allerton Maze, the bus will follow the same route as in 2019 and 2022, travelling along Queens Drive, West Derby Road, New Islington, and Leeds Road, and concluding on The Strand. The journey is expected to last between three and five hours, although timings may vary on the day.
The parade coincides with a busy weekend for the city, including Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Sefton Park and the visit of Cunard’s Queen Anne cruise ship, and residents are being urged to plan ahead to help reduce congestion and ensure everyone’s safety. Those attending the parade are encouraged to consider their travel plans carefully, particularly in terms of where to watch the parade and how to travel to and from the route. Staying local, walking, or cycling to a location along the route may be the most effective way to avoid disruption and secure a good vantage point.
Public transport services are expected to be extremely busy, and anyone relying on them is advised to plan journeys well in advance, check for service changes, and allow additional time. Changes to public transport may include temporary station closures, modified service frequencies, and different drop-off points. Transport operators will be sharing the latest updates via their websites and social media platforms, and passengers are encouraged to monitor these closely.
Passengers are also encouraged to purchase tickets in advance and to avoid aiming for the final scheduled services, as demand is likely to exceed capacity. In some cases, staggering travel times may be beneficial. Due to the scale of the parade, delays and temporary road closures should be expected, and this will impact how and when normal services resume. People travelling through or near the city centre should account for possible congestion throughout the afternoon and evening.
A spokesperson for the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority urged the public to support the safe and efficient running of the weekend’s events and to treat all transport staff with respect. These teams will be working diligently across the rail, bus, Mersey Ferries and Mersey Tunnels networks to maintain service and support passengers.
Cllr Steve Foulkes, Chair of the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority Transport Committee, said:
“We know that LFC fans from the city region and beyond will of course want to enjoy Liverpool’s title success this season and celebrate in style, just like they did in 2019 and 2022. We’re expecting hundreds of thousands to take to the streets again this year and watch the parade and we want everyone to enjoy themselves safely.”
“The Liverpool City Region has a proud reputation for hosting and delivering successful large-scale events and we need everyone to play their part across this busy bank holiday weekend.
“Alongside the LFC parade, we will also be hosting the Radio 1 Big Weekend festival in Sefton Park and the visit of Cunard’s Queen Anne cruise ship. Services are going to be extremely busy so we’re asking people to think about their travel plans.
“If you live near to or can get to the parade route outside of the city centre then ideally watch from there. If you do need public transport, then please help us keep people moving by following our advice and planning your journeys.
