There’s nothing nicer than getting the family together for a lovely meal, especially in the summer holidays when it’s a treat on its own or a fab way of ending a fun day out.
There are loads of fantastic restaurants and places to eat throughout the city, with many serving up free food or offering amazing family dining deals.
Gino D’Acampo – Old Hall Street
This summer Gino D’Acampo is inviting bambinos to eat for free at his Liverpool restaurant. Dine between now and September 3, between 12 noon and 5pm, and you can enjoy one complimentary child’s meal (the Bambino’s menu is for under-11s), complete with soft drink, to accompany every adult a la carte main meal. Kids can choose from a range of options from the perfect pizza and pasta dish to crispy chicken or succulent salmon dishes.

Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar and Grill at Hotel Indigo
All through the school holiday, the kids can eat for free with any paying adult at Marco Pierre White Restaurants. They can feast on fish goujons, make a date with Marco’s Mac’ n’ Cheese, or go for a cheeseburger. The offer applies to children under 12 with the purchase of an adult main course from the a la Carte menu and must be pre-booked. Better still, the menus have a range of activities to keep the little ones busy while the adults enjoy their food.

Gusto Italian Liverpool
You’ll find it hard to beat the view at this fabulous dockside Italian, sitting by the water where you can watch the boats bobbing about on the water (something to occupy the kids too!). The children’s menu includes houmous and Gusto Gough Petals to start, and mains like make-your-own pizza, fish and chips, burgers and chargrilled chicken strips. There are plenty of gorgeous desserts like warm chocolate brownie with ice cream, and it’s £8.95 for two courses and £10.95 for three.

Kids can eat free, all day, every day, at the Paradise Street restaurant. They’ll be giving new and existing Stripes Rewards Members a free kids’ meal when you order an adult main meal, with favourites including a bacon cheeseburger or hotdog (and two sides from the kids’ menu) washed down with a kids’ fizzy fruit cooler.

If you’re out shopping or fancy getting the kids out on a Sunday, then why not take them down to leveltap. Kids can eat free if you spend £15 across food, drink and gaming as long as they’re under 13 and with an adult. Bread Street Kitchen & Bar’s become a favourite with the lively atmosphere everyone loves. Better still, kids eat free (up to the age of 8 with each adult dining from the a la carte menu) and they can choose from dishes including delicious meatball pasta, bangers and mash, or fish and chips, and a soft drink. Japanese restaurant YO! in Paradise Street is another restaurant taking the pressure off family weekday meal treats with a kids eat free deal, available when they’re dining with a full paying adult (there’s a minimum spend of £10). It’s never too early to introduce your little ones to exotic flavours and they can enjoy a kiddo bento box, normally £7.50 for free, containing crunchy edamame, maki, mixed veggie rice, and a choice of chicken, prawn and pumpkin katsu, chicken teriyaki, or chicken gyoza, and a drink. If you haven’t tasted their signature fresh buttermilk marinated, hand-breaded and cooked-to-order chicken tenders, you could make it a family adventure. Few things come close to a good steak and chips and that’s what Miller and Carter does to perfection with a choice cut of 30-day aged British and Irish beef – ribeye, fillet, sirloin or perhaps a chateaubriand to share. There’s a two-course menu for younger members of the family for £10.50, with a mains choice of steak, chicken, fish dishes, pasta, burgers and more – and if they want to, they can add a third course, and that’s all for just £13.50.
