Two Words Coffee set to brew up a storm in Liverpool’s coffee scene
6 months ago
Liverpool’s coffee culture is about to get a buzz of excitement this Saturday, May 18, as Two Words Coffee, the city’s newest coffee roaster, makes its official debut.
Collaborating with Ropes & Twines on Bold Street, Two Words Coffee promises a unique experience for coffee lovers, offering a menu of specially roasted coffees by Allison Whorton, the Head Roaster.
The brainchild of Tian Tso, Allison Whorton, and Tom Sumner, Two Words Coffee represents a fusion of talent and passion within Liverpool’s coffee community. With backgrounds ranging from coffee shop ownership to barista expertise and branding, the trio brings a wealth of experience and innovation to the table.
Allison Whorton, the skilled head roaster, has honed her craft through a blend of self-teaching and hands-on experience with established roasters like Hard Lines in Cardiff.
For the past six months, she has been supplying Ropes & Twines on Bold Street with their signature espresso and filter options, all from the confines of a small kitchen on Bold Place.
Roasting 4 times a day, 3 days a week on a 1kg Bullet machine, Allison will move onto a 15kg Loring roaster shipped from California, when the roastery opens in its permanent residence off Hope Street later this year.
Owner Tian Tso said:
“Owning a coffee shop was my first step toward opening our own roastery, it’s something I’ve wanted to do for a long time. Along the way, I’ve met Allison and Tom through Ropes and we’re now just going through the finer details with planning on our premises off Hope Street. We’re aiming for it to be ready to roast by the end of the year.
“Liverpool’s community has grown so much over the past couple of years, thanks to the likes of Neighbourhood and Bold Street Coffee who have raised the profile of specialty coffee from being non-existent. More recently, a host of new coffee shops, Liverpool Coffee Collective and last month’s Liverpool Coffee Festival show that interest is there for more variety from local businesses.”
