Unity Theatre has announced its all-new Autumn/Winter 2024 season.
After a period of uncertainty in 2023, Unity Theatre will throw open its doors this Autumn and welcome audiences for its most varied season yet, featuring over 45 events of non-stop shows, events and workshops.
The electrifying debut season from recently appointed Artistic Director, Eli Randle will include a diverse mix of work, including work from some amazing home-grown women in the arts such as Rowena Gander and many more. Unity will also be welcoming nationally renowned companies, such as Box of Tricks and Red Ladder tackling themes of persecution, queer joy and black culture, as well as international artists such as award-winning Australian clown Garry Starr.Â
Since taking the reins at Unity Theatre, Eli Randle has made clear her intention to nurture the talent and community that orbit not only the theatre, but the North West in general. Unity has already introduced two new programmes of affordable and free workshops for creatives and families to enjoy over the summer. This new season continues the theatre’s mission of providing not just shows to enjoy, but new additions of workshops from some of the most respected artists in their fields.Â
To top off this show stopping season the Unity Christmas show is returning after a year’s hiatus, with Star of Wonder from the award-winning international theatre makers, Teatro Pomodoro.
This hilarious, magical and memorable show is the perfect, laugh-out-loud production for all the family, full of clowning, magical interaction and brilliant puppetry. Created by an award-winning team and performed by a cast of international and learning-disabled performers, Star of Wonder is the perfect way for people of all ages and abilities to make memories this festive season.
Eli Randle Artistic Director, has said about the new season announcement:
“I am extremely proud to be taking the Artistic Direction of Unity, a very special venue to me and to the city. I’m also really excited to launch a season which has a rich, bold and diverse mix of homegrown work and premiers, festivals and acclaimed national and international artists with a mix of theatre, dance, puppetry, clown, family work and a range of opportunities for our local artist community. It is difficult financial times for everyone in the arts, so please come to our beautiful venue and expect a warm welcome!”
