Could You Be the Next Great Comedy Writer from Liverpool?
Liverpool has a rich history of producing top comedy talent, and now aspiring comedy writers have a unique opportunity to break into the industry. Following sell-out success in Manchester, the Comedy Lab Sketch Writing Workshop is launching at Hot Water Comedy Club, offering writers and performers a chance to learn from industry professionals and gain their first writing credits Saturday and Sunday March 29th and 30th.
Led by multi-award-winning comedian, qualified teacher, and University of Salford lecturer Tom Short, the two-day workshop is designed to give participants practical experience in sketch writing, performance, and industry submission processes. Tom will be joined by BBC Radio 4 sketch writer John Soffe, who will provide insider knowledge on how to craft sketches for broadcast and get material commissioned.
What to Expect
Comedy Lab is an intensive, hands-on workshop where participants will:
Learn sketch structure, joke economy, and character development
Write and workshop sketches with direct feedback
Gain insight into industry expectations and submission processes
Develop skills to pitch for professional writing opportunities
The workshops have been hugely popular in Manchester, selling out weeks in advance, and now Liverpool-based comedy writers and performers have the chance to get their foot in the door of the industry.
