The Reader are putting on a decadent feast of pickled bats, slugs in goo and maggot fondue in collaboration with Harper Collins Children’s Books and inspired by the mesmerising children’s book, Café at the Edge of the Woods.

During this immersive retelling of the story, children will take a trip to the Café at the Edge of the Woods, meet our Head Chef and create a ghastly potion. Dress your little ones in wellies and waterproofs, things might get might get slimy! 

Best suited for 4-9 year olds and their families.

Pickled Bats: Miso caramelized red onion tart with mature cheddar and pickled artichoke

Maggot Fondue: Orzo pasta in cheese sauce

Truffle Stew with Slugs: Truffle infused, slow cooked beef stew with crispy mushrooms

Battered Mice: Saffron battered potatoes 

Blood Berry Fruit Salad: Lychees, black berries, raspberries, blueberries and raspberry coulis
