Luce Mawdsley is an autistic non-binary composer and guitarist based in Liverpool with a practice rooted in progressive experimentation. Drawing from a range of poetic artforms their work uses personal experience of neurodivergence and queerness as a ligature from which to generate subversive explorations of gender, place and identity formation.
Hailed as the “Merseyside Morricone” by Uncut Magazine, Mawdsley presents a set of expansively cinematic instrumentals from their 2024 album Northwest & Nebulous that conjure queer cowboy landscapes via the northern English coastline.
For this performance Mawdsley is joined by jazz, folk and free music artists Nicholas Branton on clarinets and Michael Paul Metcalfe on drumset.
