The Plaza have been working with artists and writers from Marvel, DC Comics, 2000AD and The Walking Dead to bring a Marvel & DC Comic Day to the cinema.

We have two events taking place, our daytime event will start at 10am to 5pm and admission will be £10 to meet our guests.

In the evening we will be showing films from both Marvel and DC, which will be:

  • From DC Comics we have the 1966 Batman film (U) with Adam West
  • From Marvel (TBC)

The above films will be shown at 5:30pm and 7:45pm tickets £5 each available soon.


CHARLIE ADLARD – Charlie has been a veteran of the comic industry for over 25 years. He’s spent the majority of his time since 2003 working on The Walking Dead, which finished in 2019, and has received many industry awards for his work on the series culminating in winning the Sergio Aragonés International Award for Excellence in Comic Art in 2019. In his time as a cartoonist he has worked on many other projects as far reaching as Mars Attacks, the X-Files, Judge Dredd, Savage, Batman, X-Men, Superman etc and creator-owned projects closer to his heart like Astronauts In Trouble, Breath Of The Wendigo, Codeflesh, Rock Bottom, Vampire State Building, and White Death.

NIGEL PARKINSON – Draws Dennis (the Menace) and Gnasher and most other Beano and Dandy characters at some time or other for the weekly comic, the annuals, summer and winters specials and the latest “Boomics” books about Dennis and Beanotown. Special Beano projects such as 2021’s Royal Mail Dennis stamps and regular media stories involving Beano-styled celebrities from Rees Mogg to Little Mix, will all have been his work. He was responsible for the acclaimed “Harry Hill’s Adventures in TV Land” for The Dandy. He’s also drawn Thunderbirds, Grange Hill, Baywatch, Stingray, Count Arthur Strong, Ace Ventura Pet Detective etc, etc over a 42 year career.

ALAN COWSILL – Alan co-created Stormwatcher for Acme/Eclipse before working on Panini UK’s Marvel line and writing the first UK-originated Spider-Man strips for more than a decade. He created the bestselling Jackie Chan Adventures, the award-winning Classic Marvel Figurine Collection, and the DC Super Hero Collection for Eaglemoss Publishing. His books include Warzone: Dark Eden, DC Comics: A Year by Year Visual Chronicle, Marvel Avengers Character Encyclopaedia, and Spider-Man Year by Year: A Visual Chronicle.

LEIGH GALLAGHER has been a professional comic book artist for 17-ish years. Having drawn for DC Comics on titles such as LEGO BIONICLE and JUSTICE LEAGUE UNLIMITED, he is now a proud art droid for The Mighty Tharg at 2000AD, on titles such as JUDGE DREDD, DEFOE, AQUILA, and the epic alien invasion of Middle Earth story, KINGMAKER. JASON QUINN is the author of several award-winning graphic novels including Steve Jobs: Genius by Design and Gandhi: My Life is My Message, The Kaurava Empire and World War II: Against the Rising Sun. He is the editor and writer of Hero Time Presents: Batman and has worked on many magazines and comic books including Doctor Who Adventures, Spider-Man, and Ben 10. He is one part of the writing team known as The Brothers Quinn, responsible for such affronts to children’s literature as The Jolly Bloodbath.

TIM QUINN – The Quinn half of Quinn & Howett from Doctor Who Magazine, Marvel Comics and 10,000 other comic book titles over the last 50+ years. Today Tim will be launching his autobiography ARGH! I WAS SPIDER-MAN’S EDITOR telling all about his time in the comic book world. Along with his brother Jason he will also be re-launching their piratical novel, The Jolly Bloodbath, a tale of blood and gore during piratical days.

LEW STRINGER – UK humour comics artist/writer for almost 40 years. Clients include Buster, Dandy, Beano, Oink!, Viz, Doctor Who Magazine, Marvel UK, The77 and more. Creator of Brickman, Sgt Shouty and Tom Thug amongst many others.

LIVERPOOL HEARTBEAT – The local children’s charity that has been changing lives for the better for over 20 years. Created by Robin Baynes MBE, the charity creates events round sport, athletics and literacy, working with many schools across the region. Using many of the top talents from the comic book world, Liverpool Heartbeat has created a series of unique comic books
