Jimmy's Liverpool
NGUVU Presents: Northwest Groovement featuring Harambe Naomi and The Soul Rays.
Finally, The Groove has come back to Liverpool. And NGUVU is set to return to Jimmy’s Liverpool, and once again join forces with Liverpool’s finest to bring you a night of Jazz, Funk, and Soul to the masses. This time they’re joined by Harambe Maoni and The Soul Rays.
About NGUVU
NGUVU is a Swahili term that translates to power, force, and energy. But here in the UK, NGUVU is what happens when you blend nasty baselines, dreamy chords, powerful vocals, sexy sax, and godly grooves into one phenomenally Phat and funky sound.
Being the musical brainchild of drummer and MC, Jamal Lewis-Service, NGUVU merges beautiful blends of world music, jazz-fusion, New Jack Swing, Neo soul, hip-hop, rock, and afro-inspired funk, which this band uses to leave you flying high on pure groove.
About Harambe Maoni
Harambe Maoni is a homegrown Liverpool-based Saxophonist who specializes in some of the most ethereal and groove-based Instrumental on music this or any side of the Merseyside.
Whenever you see the name Harambe Maoni, just know you’re going to hear nothing but unique original compositions fused together from Afrobeat, Spiritual jazz, funk, hip hop & DnB.
About The Soul Rays
The Soul Rays are a straight-up Funk band with a heavy influence of R’n’B and Hip Hop which creates a truly unique sound. Boasting an enormous lineup including 2 amazing female lead singers and a rip-roaring horn section.
Imagine if James Brown’s band were backing Destiny’s Child and playing really fresh and modern funk tunes and you’ll have a good idea of the sound! The Soul Rays bring an energetic live show every time they take to the stage.
