Championed by Paul Weller, Stone Foundation shot to notoriety when he produced and featured on their 2017 album Street Rituals. Formed back in the early 90’s, their first break came when John Bradbury from The Specials saw them play and invited them to join him on the band’s UK tour. They went on to tour Japan with the Visit Britain campaign and since then have performed many sell out shows to their loyal fans all over the UK as well as performing at Glastonbury.
They have collaborated with Nolan Porter, Graham Parker, Carleen Anderson, Mick Talbot, Kathryn Williams and many more.
Bass player Neil Sheasby says the band are “Making soul music without being a retro pastiche but bringing something new to the party.” “We’re obviously influenced by the music we grew up with,” adds vocalist Neil Jones, “but we want to take that music forward. Really, it’s reminding people what modernism is actually about. Creating something for now.”
For Weller, working with Stone Foundation has been “A privilege”. He says they make a great music with a strong message, “One you don’t hear much about these days and I’m glad to have been part of it.”
Stone Foundation’s performances unite the forces of soul music from across the generations with a truly British Mod authenticity, on the road again with over 26 dates starting in October performing songs such as “In Our Time”, “Small Town Soul”, “Away From The Grain” and “Standing On The Top”, as well as their latest single “Freedom Starts!”
