Voice of Anfield George Sephton helps create new powerful and moving tribute to Klopp

This tribute to Klopp who leaves at the end of the season is one of the most powerful we have seen.
The Voice of Anfield George Sephton has helped create a moving tribute to Klopp in front of the mural of the manager that’s become an iconic focal point for fans.
The 78-year-old, who’s the second longest-serving stadium announcer in England, is better-known for reading out the names of the players as they walk onto the pitch at Liverpool Football Club ahead of each game.
But last night he teamed up with poet Sean Cullen and street art specialists MurWalls for a unique recital of the special verse written by Sean in tribute to legendary coach Klopp ahead of his departure at the end of the season.
Sean, a well-known local writer, creative and director, wrote ‘Our Klopp’ to thank the football giant for all he’s done for the team and the city, and was thrilled when it moved fans to tears across the world.
And he described hearing it read out by George as it was projected onto the MurWalls image of Jurgen Klopp in Burnand Street, Anfield, last night as one of the highlights of his career so far.
“It was emotional,” says the 44-year-old LFC fan who’s originally from Wavertree. “To see my poem come alive on a house in Anfield and recited by George Sephton, the Voice of Anfield…I teared up, I’ll be honest with you.
“The poem has just got bigger and bigger, and this has made it the maddest week of my life.
“George recited the poem in a studio on Monday and last night it was played while the poem was projected onto the Klopp mural.
“It just shows the power of this city, and that when everyone gets together we can do amazing things.”
Sean first got in touch with MurWalls to ask if he could use their Klopp mural as a background image for the poem which he wrote and released earlier this year.
But he had a dream of projecting it onto a giant wall or building.
That was made a reality by Edinburgh company Double Take Projections who specialise in developing immersive visual experiences through projection last night, and filmed to create the powerful and emotional film for a social story which will be released around Klopp’s departure as a goodbye gift and thank you.
“It felt surreal, standing there listening to, and watching, my poem up there. It was epic,” adds Sean. “I’m really happy, pleased and proud.
“The poem was just trying to get Klopp’s attention.
“This is a very personal project and with the manager leaving, it’s sad; but this is a thank you to him, and if he gets to hear it, and see this, I’ll be happy.”
Marc Silver, CEO and founder of MurWalls who created the Klopp image as well as many others in the city from Robbie Fowler to Natasha Jonas, Steven Gerrard and Jordan Henderson, says: “This is a story telling of Sean’s poem.
“Double Take Projections – who are responsible for projections onto buildings like Buckingham Palace and Big Ben – didn’t just project it onto the mural they brought it to life; they animated it, and that’s the video that people can see on our Instagram.
“It’s lovely and very emotional.
“To be part of this feels amazing for us, and it’s one of many tributes that are going to come to Jurgen Klopp for what he’s done for the club and for the city.
“Sean came up with the idea but I didn’t imagine such a creative production. It’s magnificent.
“The fans are going to love it.
“The love and the passion that people have for Liverpool Football Club can never be underestimated, it’s people’s lives, it’s people’s religion; they are so passionate about it. And when you are doing something so positive to celebrate that with them it’s always going to turn into great things.”
