Warrington Grandad to abseil down hospital dressed as Spiderman for Cancer charity
2 hours ago

At almost 78, the retired police detective will swap his civvies for a Spiderman suit and abseil 11 storeys down The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre – Liverpool, all to raise money for The Clatterbridge Cancer charity.
Chris Upham from Great Sankey, who’s terrified of heights, has a very personal reason for taking on the challenge to raise money for Clatterbridge Cancer charity. Diagnosed with prostate cancer himself, he’s also lost a family member to the disease, celebrated his niece finishing treatment, and seen his brother-in-law go into remission.

What started as a £500 fundraising target has snowballed into more than £4,000 – helped along by his promise to wear the superhero costume if he passed £2,500. Now, he’s hoping to hit £5,000 before the big day on 14 September.
Chris says the fear of dangling from a rope is nothing compared to the fear of a cancer diagnosis – and he’s determined to face both head-on.
