It was an early start for thousands of runners on Sunday 2nd December as the 15th edition of Liverpool Santa Dash got underway. Race organisers, BTR Liverpool partnered up with Radio City, Arriva and The Guide Liverpool to bring the UK’s largest festive fun run back to the city for another 5k outing.
Kicking off at 9:30 at the Pier Head, Radio City breakfast presenters, Leanne & Dave and a host of special guests got the runners, joggers and walkers on their way around the brand new route, taking in The Royal Albert Dock for the first time.
Famous faces on the start line included Liverpool Football Club CEO Peter Moore and his wife, LFC Legend Alan Kennedy, Speedo Mick, Santa Joe (always runs in just his red pants!) Hollyoaks stars Nicole Barber-Lane, Parry Glasspool, Jacob Roberts and Adam Woodward. Sky Sports were in attendance and Channel 5 were also filming the event as presenter Jenni Falconer took on her first ever Liverpool Santa Dash, raising funds for Help the Animals at Christmas.
As official race videographers, The Guide Liverpool cameras captured all the action from the waterfront to the business district to the snow covered finish line, can spot yourself in the sea of Santa’s in the video above?
With local cadets manning the finish line with this year’s coveted medal, shoppers, supporters and visitors to the city lined the streets to clap and cheer on the red, blue and mini Santa’s.
The Liverpool Santa Dash is the last race of a hugely successful year for organisers, BTR Liverpool. If you’re interested in signing up for your first race in 2019, head to www.btrliverpool.com for details on the up-coming events.
