Watch for all the info you need on the Merseyrail Sound Station Final

The annual Merseyrail Sound Station Final is back on Saturday 19th November at Moorfields Station with ten of the best local musicians battling it out to win one mammoth prize. We spoke to Editor of Bido Lito! Chris Torpey to talk about the gig and the selection process – watch the video above for more.

Aspiring musicians have been uploading their entries to the music platform’s social media pages throughout the summer to be in with a chance of being picked to play at the auspicious event.
Ten artists have been picked from the raft of entries to perform in front of a panel of expert judges who represent a wide range of organisations from the Merseyside music industry.
This year’s finalists, representing a diverse range of genres including indie, folk, soul and rock are:
Gazelle
The Jjohns
A Lovely War
Deliah
Fay Moore
Stillia
Astles
Jo Mary
Katie Mac
Cave Party
The band or solo artist who impresses the most will receive a year of music industry mentoring, studio time with a producer and free train travel courtesy of Merseyrail.
Jan Chaudry-van der Velde, managing director of Merseyrail, said: “This is the fourth year that Merseyrail is running Sound Station, which continues to get bigger and better. There’s no shortage of young musical talent in the city region, and we’re keen to play our part in seeing it thrive. The final last year at Moorfields station attracted lots of our passengers, who stopped by to watch the contestants and experience some of the city region’s musical stars of tomorrow, and we encourage customers to do the same this year.’
Last year, Katy Alex went away with the coveted prize and has gone on to play at some of the region’s top festivals and released a number of critically acclaimed singles with her group Halem.
This year, Katy will join the judging panel, made up of representatives from Bido Lito! magazine, GetIntoThis blog, Arts Council England, Sentric Music Publishing and Sound Station podcast producer Michael Johnson.
The final will be hosted by Sound Station podcast presenter, Jay Hynd, at Moorfields station before the winner is announced at new Tithebarn Street music venue, Hus, the same evening.
