Watch Frankenstein accompanied by a live orchestra at The Tung Auditorium this Halloween

An awe-inspiring showcase is happening in Liverpool this Halloween weekend.

Northern Film Orchestra are hosting a very special screening of the original 1931 Frankenstein film — accompanied by a haunting live score performed by their magnificent 22-piece orchestra.

The concert is taking place at The Tung Auditorium on Saturday 29th October from 7.30pm and the audience is set to be blown away by a captivating orchestral performance alongside an iconic original black and white movie.

On the night, theatre-goers can expect a spine-tingling live performance from the orchestra — featuring violins, cello, bassoon, flute, piano, percussion and everything in between. The Tung Auditorium, Liverpool’s new state-of-the-art theatre located at the Yoko Ono Lennon Centre, has been carefully selected as a stunning venue with optimal acoustics for a multi-sensory experience.

The concert is the debut show from Northern Film Orchestra — who provide film, television and music recordings for many big clients including ITV. It is also the first time this score will be performed in the UK, following award-winning composer Michael Shapiro’s U.S shows.

Northern Film Orchestra’s Jack Hughes said:

“Michael Shapiro’s eerie, atmospheric score for this classic film has been capturing audiences globally and we’re thrilled to debut it here in the UK. It’s going to be an electrifying experience for music lovers and horror movies lovers alike and something very special to do this Halloween.”

The iconic film follows the story of Dr. Henry Frankenstein (Colin Clive) — who succeeded in piecing together body parts of the deceased in an attempt to create life. Frankenstein succeeds in animating his monster (Boris Karloff), but, confused and traumatized, it escapes into the countryside and begins to wreak havoc.
