WATCH: Liverpool homeless community given support boost
4 years ago
Yesterday it was announced that the government’s ‘Everyone In’ initiative, which gave the UK’s homeless community shelter during the pandemic is to come to an end. Watch above as Papercup Project’s Michelle Langan gives her reaction.
The government is to stop its support for the ‘Everyone In’ initiative, however Liverpool has announced that it will continue the support in the city with temporary accommodation given to all who need it, ahead of a new facility opening later in the year.
Michelle Langan runs the homelessness outreach charity, Papercup Project and she says there is no reason for anyone in Liverpool to be sleeping rough.
The Paper Cup Project plans to open a new coffee shop in Liverpool, working directly with the homeless community and local training providers. The coffee shop which will be based in Queen Square, just behind La Tasca, will offer training opportunities to homeless or vulnerably housed people in Liverpool, in an effort to build skills and confidence to get them back into the workplace.
Michelle also gives us advice on how you can support Liverpool’s homeless community during the winter months.
