West Kirby Concourse swimming pool to reopen this weekend after major repairs
3 hours ago

Swimmers in Wirral can dive back into West Kirby Concourse from this Saturday (28 June) as the much-loved pool reopens following months of essential repair and improvement work.
West Kirby Concourse swimming pool, which temporarily closed back in March, has undergone a full ceiling replacement and a series of safety checks as part of a major refurbishment project.
Cllr Ian Lewis, Chair of Wirral Council’s Tourism, Communities, Culture and Leisure Committee, said: “The reopening is perfectly timed for summer and the school holidays. We want to thank our swimmers and local clubs for their patience, and our staff at the Concourse and other leisure centres who have supported the community while the work was carried out.”
During the closure, the following works took place:
- Pool drained for full inspection
- Scaffolding installed throughout the area
- Safety checks completed
- Old ceiling tiles, framework and outdated lighting removed
- Brand new ceiling installed to meet current regulations
- Ventilation system and ductwork cleaned
- Deep clean of pool and surrounding areas
- Repairs made to poolside lockers and plant equipment
- Pool refilled and tested for reopening
With everything now back in place and ready to go, swimmers can return to their regular routines just in time for the warmer months.
Invigor8 members are also reminded they still have access to other pools across Wirral’s leisure centres as part of their membership.
