We’ve lined up some of the best places for a pint in Liverpool

By Jay Hynd
One of the best inventions ever is being celebrated across the globe today as International Beer Day 2018 gets us salivating like Homer Simpson at Happy Hour.
Anyone who knows me, knows that the only thing I drink is beer – and sometimes lots of it. So today makes me especially happy!
Liverpool is packed full of amazing mini breweries, beer specialists and ale taps. We have an events calendar full of Ale and Craft Beer Festivals, and local independent breweries like Black Lodge and Mad Hatter are making names for themselves in the beer loving universe. Plus with Cains Brewery making a come back we are certainly on our way to being the beer capital of the world.
But how can you celebrate your favourite tipple today in Liverpool?
Yard & Coop, Hanover Street
It’s not only chicken on the menu at Yard & Coop, they have an amazing bar menu too. Nearly 25 beers, IPA’s and ales on offer and today from 4pm (Friday 3rd August) they are serving up free pints of their Flip The Bird IPA brewed by The Brightside Brewing Company. Sign up to their mailing list here to redeem your vouchers.
Dead Crafty Beer, Dale Street
One of our favourite bars in the city. Dead Crafty Beer is family run and a perfect pit stop on your Liverpool day or night out. There are 20 rotating taps, over 150 bottled beers from all over the globe and the bar staff are filled with knowledge on what will suit your palette. There really is something for everyone. More info here.
Handymans Supermarket, Smithdown Road
The original plan for this now beloved beer hotspot was to pop up for just a few months on Smithdown Road. But having done such an incredible job of converting the original Handymans Supermarket the team decided to open full time. Serving a huge range of beers, ales, fruity sours and more, bottled or draft, brewed on site. The live music and event offering is making a real name for itself too. Give them a follow on Facebook here.
Tap & Still, Baltic Triangle
There are free tours of the working brewery this evening at Tap & Still in the Baltic. Whether you fancy a pint of Love Lane, a refreshing gin or some seriously tasty grub to soak up the ale, this place covers all bases. Afternoon G&Tea is available and the team are currently working towards their Distillery Dinner and Tasting event in September, where you get to sample all of the above.
The Baltic Fleet, Wapping
You can’t not mention the Baltic Fleet when talking beer in Liverpool. One of the city’s oldest and best loved pubs based just opposite Wapping Dock. Down in the cellar you’ll find the Wapping Brewery which offers an ever-changing menu of award winning real ales. Bowl of home-made Scouse on one side of the table and a pint in the other, yes please! Head to the website here.
Of course there are plenty more places for a good pint of the good stuff in Liverpool. The Ship & Mitre has its own bottle shop and brewery and is a CAMRA pub of excellence and places like Smugglers Cove, the Shipping Forecast and Brewdog all offer up an incredible line up of beers.
