What’s on at Everyman & Playhouse Theatres this Christmas

There is so much going on at the Everyman & Playhouse Theatres this Christmas.

Everyman’s legendary Rock ‘n’ Roll Panto 2025: Jack and the Beanstalk is a musical adventure bursting with cheeky gags, big tunes and festive fun running now until Saturday 17 January 2026. Tickets for the Everyman’s festive season are in high demand and selling fast, with some shows sold out. Audiences are encouraged to book early to secure their seats and avoid disappointment. There is also the option to pre-order a Panto Picnic Box to kick off the best party in town!  

Visitors exploring Liverpool’s festive scene can stop by the Everyman to meet the 15ft Elf from the giant game The Elf on the Shelf, on display for two days only on Wednesday 3 and Thursday 4 December, before moving on to other city locations. As the Elf tours Liverpool, the Everyman is partnering with Liverpool BID Company to spread seasonal cheer by collecting toy gifts for Alder Hey Children’s Charity. Donations can be dropped off at the Everyman between 11am and 8pm from 2 to 20 December, Tuesday to Saturday, in the hamper beside the Christmas tree in the main foyer. Times may change, so please check the theatre’s opening hours ahead of your visit.

Every gift donated helps make the season magical for children who need it most, and we invite everyone to join us in spreading that joy.” 

As part of the monthly Tea & Talks series, December welcomes Cate Mackie, the theatre’s Head of Costume, who will explore the different roles within the costume department and reveal the processes behind creating costumes for a production on Friday 12 December. On the evening of the same day, triple the X-citement at The Spare Rib’s Christmas-themed burlesque show, X-Rated Xmas Xtravaganza, combining classic burlesque with unconventional and contemporary styles to create a selection box of sexiness. 

The sold-out interactive theatre experience Murder Mystery is back with a Christmas Special! Join the company for the Live Final and become part of the show’s voting jury in this talent competition-inspired interactive performance. Murder Mystery: The Talent Search – You Decide Christmas Special runs from Friday 19 December to Saturday 20 December, and there is a matinee performance on Saturday 20 December, which can also be booked with afternoon tea. 

Following last Christmas’s festive delights, Nana Funk, Liverpool’s favourite all singing, all dancing Nana, will be lighting up Downstairs at the Everyman once more with some slightly dusty Christmas Sparkle, joined by guests queer performance maker Dross and the daddy of Birmingham drag, Blü Romantic, on Saturday 6 December. 

Don’t miss Reel Tours on Thursday 18 December, one of Liverpool’s most exciting theatre and film quiz events! The event is hosted by Gary Lunt, BBC Radio Merseyside’s resident film expert and a Blue Badge Tour Guide. Gary has written for top film websites and magazines and is now working on his debut book about Britain’s cinematic history.
