Which is your favourite Emoji from the new 2019 bunch?

With 230 brand new emoji’s gracing our phones later this year, we’re already plotting our best ever texts.

In its 6th update since 2014, Unicode, the amazing people behind our favourite way to communicate, have officially announced a whopping 230 brand new emoji’s will be available on our phones in 2019. Release dates will vary depending on platform but social media is already alight with chatter.

2019 sees the list expanding to include more representation for those with disability, additional skin tones and gender variations. There’s also 59 brand new emoji’s that are going to seriously improve our text communications including a hi vis vest, sloth, undies, otter, ice cube, snorkel and the one everyone is talking about, the pinching hand!

It’s safe to say this particular new addition has attracted some instant fans with more RT’s, likes and comments than any of the others on the official @Empojipedia list. Meant to mean ‘just a little bit’, the pinching hand emoji has people relating it to Ross from Friends in the one where he tells Joey and Chandler to turn their volume down. We can’t help but notice that there seems to be more women getting excited for this one than fellas? Strange that!

There’s also brand new colours in the circles and squares category plus a white and brown heart, guide dogs, prosthetic limbs and a ringed planet all join the 2019 update list too. Not going to lie, we’re particularly excited about the waffle emoji so we can now suggest brunch/brekkie without even typing a word! 2019 just got amazing.
