Why now was the right time to recognise The Guide Heroes
3 hours ago

The Guide has been sharing incredible stories of the individuals, fundraisers, organisations and businesses who make our city region great for the past decade.
And every year we’ve been amazed and honestly in awe of the courage, resilience and determination shown by people who expect no credit for themselves.
So, with a landmark birthday in 2025, that’s why we felt the time was right to really give them the recognition they deserve by creating The Guide Liverpool HEROES 2025 awards.
Founder Jay Hynd explained:
“This year we’re celebrating 10 years since I launched The Guide, and we wanted to do something special to mark that. An awards concept has been on my mind for a while and when we were coming up with ideas for our celebration we thought, let’s do it for Liverpool.
“Over those 10 years, The Guide’s become known for shouting about the brilliant people, charities and businesses in our city region and the positive things they do, so this event recognising the heroes lends itself perfectly to that.”

The awards are split into 16 different categories, focusing on everything from community projects, charities and emergency services to sports heroes and influencers, with the majority decided by public votes.
Only four special awards – Unsung Hero, Inspiration and City Region Superhero, plus one surprise award that won’t be revealed until the night – have been chosen by a panel of judges.
Jay said:
“The Superhero award will go to someone who really goes above and beyond to make a massive difference, often facing personal challenges to do good for the city region,”
“The Inspiration award will be given to someone who has been inspirational along the way, maybe driving change at a national level, and Unsung Hero will be awarded to someone who’s made a massive difference but who we at The Guide believe deserves more recognition for what they do.”
Jay says the response since the awards were launched has been huge, and the ceremony at Titanic Hotel Liverpool on Friday November 21 promises to be a night to remember.
“When we launched Heroes, we were absolutely overwhelmed with the amount of nominations and votes we had, there were tens of thousands,” he adds.
“Now we’re really looking forward to shining a spotlight on so many worthy winners.

“In the room on the night there will be people who’ve gone through some horrendous experiences and shown tremendous courage and determination so there are definitely going to be moments filled with emotion – so much so that one of our sponsors, Moorcrofts Solicitors, are actually bringing Moorcrofts tissues with them!
“But there’ll also be lots of celebration, and the event is a great way for everyone there to let their hair down, be proud of what they’ve achieved and let us showcase their stories which is really important.
“Hopefully by getting up on stage and being given awards, they will inspire others and everyone watching at home or at the awards in person will come away feeling uplifted.”
