Why Sam Ryder chose The Cavern for intimate gigs on the Road to Wembley
2 hours ago

Singer Sam Ryder has asked to play two intimate gigs at The Cavern ahead of his huge Wembley Arena show in November.
Tickets go on sale this week for the Eurovision star’s appearances at the Mathew Street Club on Tuesday, October 21.
And Cavern director Jon Keats says he’s delighted to see the Space Man back.
“He’s played here so many times now, Sam’s practically a resident musician,” he says.
“We’ll always welcome him back, it’s almost an open invitation. Sam’s a lovely guy, he has time for everyone, and he puts on a great show.”
Sam, whose Road to Wembley Tour sees him playing a small number of select gigs before his London stadium concert on November 6, last appeared at The Cavern Club in 2023 when Liverpool hosted the Eurovision Song Contest in the UK on behalf of Ukraine.
He’d come second to winners Kalush Orchestra who were representing the war-torn country the previous year.

Jon says:
“He’s played a few times here.
“During Eurovision he did three shows in one day, and about 18 months before that he also launched his first album here doing a couple of shows then.
“He just really loves the venue.
“Like most musicians, it’s a special place for him because of the history and he’s become part of the extended family here; we’ve developed a good relationship with Sam.
“He actually had his unofficial after-show party for Eurovision here with all of his team and his band.
“So when he was doing the Wembley gigs, his agent got in touch and said Sam had requested to do two shows as part of the warm-up leading up to Wembley.
“He loves the venue. He loves Liverpool.”
Jon adds he’s got a lot of time for Sam, whose second studio album Heartland comes out on October 17, just days ahead of his arrival at The Cavern.
“His shows here have been fantastic in the past and it’s great that he’s coming back.
“Sam really is a genuine guy. His shows are full on, he doesn’t hold back, he’s excellent. A top fella.”
While so many artists want to perform at The Cavern, Jon says it’s still always a privilege when people choose it and the city.
“And I’d say, with Sam, because we’ve got to know him quite a bit with him having been here a lot, I think he appreciates the way he’s looked after here because we look after everyone. But it’s a great venue with a great history, and he gets that.
“Long may he keep coming back.”
Sam is playing two shows at The Cavern Club on Tuesday, October 21 at 6pm and 9pm.
Fans can pre-order Heartland to get pre-sale access to Sam’s shows from 10am on Wednesday, September 17, with tickets going on general sale on Friday, September 19.
