Why You Should Be At The Jacaranda This Record Store Day

The Jacaranda is one of the city’s most iconic, and beloved music venues/record stores. As with the likes of the Cavern Club and Rubber Soul, The Jac has a wealth of history in its walls, having been graced by The Beatles who rehearsed, performed, socialised and even decorated the venue. Where better is there to spend the cult sensation that is Record Store Day than in a record store steeped in musical credibility such as this? If you need more convincing, or just want to know what’s going on, take a look below…you won’t be disappointed.

Live Music 11am – 6am

No, you’ve not misread that; it really is live music for 19 hours! The Jac has become infamous for being open until the early hours amongst punters, especially musicians who don’t finish work until late.

I digress. Record Store Day will see The Jac welcome artists into it’s basement, and the ground floor levels, all of whom are hand picked for your entertainment. At various times throughout the day the stages will be taken over by Mellowtone Records, Liverpool International Music Festival, Getintothis and Positive Vibrations, creating a bill that includes everything from Folk to Soul and acoustic sets to DJ sets.

Topanga Mansion LP Launch Party

Seafoam Green

Part of the above will include the launch of Seafoam Green’s ‘Topanga Mansion’ album on vinyl. This Irish chap has been all over the world, going on European and US tours since he started his musical journey in 2015, and now you can catch him in this intimate environment.

If you are already a fan of the psychedelic folkster, then this is a once in a lifetime chance to get your hands on some exclusive, authentic memorabilia. And, if you’re new to Mr Green, then you can do exactly what Record Store Day is all about: discover some brand new music. What better way to discover that music than to see it played live, right in front of your very…ears.

Vinyl Booths

The Jacaranda’s cherry on the top of what is already a premium vinyl store, is the array of booths equipped with their own decks. You and your friends can relax with a coffee, or something stronger, listening the afternoon away in your own, cosy booth. There are triple the amount of official releases than last year, with 15,000 records spread across 3 floors. Demand for the stations will be high on such a busy day, so make sure that you get down early to bag the best seats in the house.

Exclusive Local Releases

As local musician, to have your vinyl premiered, exclusively, by The Jacaranda on Record Store Day, is a huge honour and achievement. Well, guess what, that is exactly what is happening for some of our local artists. The details are yet to be released as it can be potluck as to what stores get what records, but what we do know is that The Jac are going out of their way to make sure that our local scene is represented at a high level come Record Store Day.

Atmosphere

The Guide Liverpool

The Jacaranda Club

The atmosphere all around the venue will be buzzing as everyone battles it out to find his or her catch of the day. Whether you will be popping in for something specific, or just browsing around, the sense of excitement won’t fail to engage you in the festivities. Music lovers are a welcoming bunch, so expect friends to be made and plenty of music to be recommended to you. Get down there, grab a drink and strap in for the day.

Prizes

From 6pm there will be prizes to be won. There will be giveaways of Official Record Store Day releases, tickets to Independent Liverpool’s Food Slam as well as an array of other vinyl related prizes. To be in with a chance of winning one of these fantastic prizes, all you need to do is get down to The Jac with your favourite record and let them play it for everyone. Easy right? Get choosing!
