What a glorious day we had at Birkenhead Park for the second and final day of the Wirral Food and Drink Festival 2019.
Sunday’s Wirral Food and Drink Festival was bustling from mid-morning with a great mix of families and young people all eager to try the local produce and soak up the festival atmosphere.
Alongside the 60+ stalls, populated by local restaurants, bars and producers, the Birkenhead Park festival site welcoming a whole host of local, live music to the mix.
Those hoping to pick up some top tips from the pro’s were well and truly treated as the chef demonstrations continued throughout the day. Alongside Paul Askew and Tommy Heaney, Chef Ellis Barrie took to the kitchen to share his experience and knowledge and also revealed he’s joining the Ready Steady Cook revival on the BBC as resident chef. Amazing news.

Elsewhere across the sun drenched festival site, kids were entertained by stilt-walkers, street theatre, arts and crafts with Tate Liverpool and good old fashioned fun on the play park. There was even a very special award for one Wirral school girl who has dedicated her time to making the borough a more clean and bright place for everyone. Huge congratulations to Wirral Ambassador Award winner, Elizabeth!
The unexpected sun allowed for families and friends to make a real day of it, with picnics on the grass with the very best food and drink that Wirral has to offer.
