Woolton Picture House reveals 12 Days of Christmas fundraising festive film line-up
2 hours ago
Woolton Picture House has revealed its 12 Days of Christmas film line-up as part of a huge fundraising campaign to get the cinema back to its best and open again.
Kevin Fearon set up a Community Interest Company earlier this year with partner Gill Miller with the goal of restoring the much-loved cinema for the community.
He announced a target of £700,000, broken down to £450,000 to cover the purchase price and a further £250,000 by May 2026 to get it back open for screenings.
That received a major boost two weeks ago when local business owner Harry Crampton, managing director of Crampton Bros Ltd, made a generous donation of £100,000.
Now the CIC is hoping to boost the total even further with a programme of festive favourites shown on its big screen.
And the good news is all the most popular ones are in there, so everyone’s bound to find their all-time favourite.

12 Days of Christmas will start on the morning of Friday December 12, with the classic 1954 movie White Christmas.
The afternoon will show How The Grinch Stole Christmas and in the evening it’s The Holiday.
Saturday December 13 has Elf, Arthur Christmas and Bad Santa, and on Sunday December 14 it’ll be Miracle on 34th Street, The Muppet Christmas Carol and Love Actually.
Judy Garland in Meet Me At St Louis starts Monday December 15, with Bad Santa in the evening, then on Tuesday December 16 it’s the original Scrooge, and Die Hard.
Meet Me At St Louis returns on Wednesday December 17, and so does John McClane because Die Hard 2 is the evening screening.
Scrooge and The Holiday feature again on Thursday December 18, and on Friday December 19 it’s Miracle on 34th Street, Arthur Christmas and Love Actually.
Saturday December 20 will have White Christmas in the morning then Die Hard and Die Hard 2 so you could make it a double (with a break for a bite to eat in between!).

Sunday December 21 has Home Alone and Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, followed by It’s A Wonderful Life in the evening.
And, because it’s such a timeless favourite, James Stewart as George Bailey will be back in It’s A Wonderful Life on Monday December 22, Tuesday December 23 and it’ll finish the 12 Days of Christmas programme on Christmas Eve.
Having been closed since Covid, the cinema isn’t in the best state, but a team of volunteers spent last Sunday grafting to get it ready to welcome audiences, cleaning, tidying, pulling tacks out of the floor and generally showing the cinema some love.
Tickets for all the screenings are now on sale, but if you fancy going along you’ll need to be quick because the response has been massive and some have already sold out.Â
