Work on Woodside Ferry Village is underway and the first food vendor has been unveiled
5 years ago

With development work well underway on Wirral’s waterfront for a June opening, Woodside Ferry Village has unveiled its first food concession which will be joining the new food hall project is Liverpool based Bacaro, and will be the latest venue added to the successful Red and Blue Restaurants group.
Both co-owners, Paddy Smith and Jonathan Poole, have been in discussions with representatives of the Woodside Area Community Interest Group, which is developing the food hall concept at Woodside, and will be using their culinary expertise in creating a menu of tasty and flavoursome homemade doughs and Bacaro special recipes for its pizza dishes, all of which will undoubtedly broaden the appeal of Woodside Ferry Village as a destination.
Jonathan Poole said, “Nine years on and after successfully achieving the original business plan of opening four different, independently named restaurants in Liverpool, we remain extremely proud of the high-quality standards we maintain across our portfolio.
He added, “We are now looking to expand our popular Bacaro Restaurant’s by opening a Bacaro Pizza Concession at Woodside Ferry Village, which we feel will be an excellent fit for our Bacaro brand and we are very excited by this new venture. We believe passionately that the food we serve and the way we serve it should leave each and every guest with a reason to return.
“For us its all about the Pizza – we closely follow the traditions of Naples, the birthplace of Pizza. Our dough is made on site every day; 24 hours of proofing, balled and then left again for another 24 hours which is then hand rolled. Due to this unique style, our Artisan Bacaro Pizza is quickly cooked for 90 seconds in our Domed Pizza Oven producing a variety of exciting flavours using seasonal quality ingredients. Some of these pizzas we will be bringing to Woodside are pepperoni and nduja, spinach, garlic tomato & truffle cheese and Capa de Parma ham, mushrooms, mozzarella & ricotta to name a few!”
Amongst the many awards and peer recognition the company has received includes Risotto 2109 Young Chef of the Year, Best Small Companies 2019, The Good Food Guide, Food Drink Awards, Recommended by Olive Magazine, Sunday Times Food List, and Hardens Guide.
Sharon Stanton, Interim Managing Director for Woodside Area Community Interest Company added, “We are delighted and very excited to welcome Bacaro Pizza to the Woodside Ferry Village in joining us as a vendor concession. Bacaro enjoys a great creative reputation for the high quality of its cuisines, and will bring that valuable expertise and menu excellence in developing the Woodside Ferry Village offer as dining and venue experience.
She added, “In creating Woodside Ferry Village, we have taken the influence and successes from other food hall concepts, both nationally and internationally, and we will be home to a number of high quality food vendors, with the opportunity to add further space through external containers which will be able to house pop-up shops and other businesses.”
Redevelopment works at Woodside Ferry Village are currently at an advanced stage, with the venue looking to be fully operational in mid-June, offering a combination of the food vendors, together with music, arts and educational opportunities in making Woodside once again a vibrant and major visitor attraction.
