You can take on a dinosaur or tickle the ivories from home with Liverpool ONE

How about taking on a t-rex in your back garden? Or taking part in a piano playing festival from your living room? You can do it all, at home with Liverpool ONE.

Liverpool ONE has today announced a series of stay at home events and entertainment ensuring there is something for every member of the family to enjoy and take part in during lock-down.

Research shows having a focus and interest enhances overall mood and gives an improved sense of well-being.

The famous ‘Tickle The Ivories’ Piano Busking Festival – a popular attraction across Liverpool ONE during the summer months – will now be brought to fans – both regulars and new ones too – via a special You Tube link here.

This will take everyone on a trip down memory lane by sharing highlights from its popular summer busking programme across the world-wide web. Established and budding musicians will also be encouraged to share clips of their talents at home in the hope of promoting positivity and inspiration to others. 

It is hoped this will help to lift moods during what could be a worrying, challenging and trying time for many people.

Liverpool ONE would love to hear from both regular Tickle fans and new ones too. 

People are invited to tag Liverpool ONE in their Tickle video – whether this is on the keyboard or another musical instrument.

Videos can also be sent to: busk@liverpool-one.com  to be uploaded as part of the online festival. 

As the Easter weekend is now just days away, the popular Dinosaurs Unleashed event which proved a huge success last year, will also be brought direct to living rooms and gardens. Changes have been made to ensure the mobile app, which was originally built to entertain visitors at Liverpool ONE, can be adapted to be enjoyed across hundreds of thousands of households in the region.

Donna Howitt, Marketing Director at Liverpool ONE, said: “As a destination within the city that focuses our activity and event schedules around bringing people together, socialising and entertaining, we’ve had to act quickly to change our plans to encourage people – of all ages – to stay away. We want to keep spirits high and ensure we play a role in helping to enhance mood during this difficult time.

“We hope that by adapting our programmes and offering online tools to help keep everyone occupied at home, we’re playing our part to keep us all safe and well – and hopefully returning to normality in the not too distance future.”

The new innovative home edition of the Dinosaurs Unleashed event will enable budding palaeontologists to interact and play from the comfort of their own homes.

The free interactive game, which is now available to download on Android and iOS devices, transports players back to the Jurassic era, giving them the opportunity to hatch dinosaurs, feed and interact with them and go into battle against other dino fans.

The new version of Dinosaurs Unleashed can be downloaded for both IOS and Android in the app store, by searching ‘Dinosaurs Unleashed’ or by visiting the website here.

The app gives players the opportunity to bring the pre-historic creatures to life before their eyes using augmented reality.

The updated version now means players can use online activation ‘markers’ – available via Liverpool ONE’s website – which can be printed off and hidden around the home for the full ‘hunt’ experience.

And the popular park rangers will remain on hand online too, to offer their dino tips, tricks and facts, while families will also be encouraged to get involved with educational quizzes and polls.

Donna added: “As we all know, we’re in completely unprecedented times and it’s more important than ever to remain positive. Many families will be feeling the pressure to keep the little ones entertained, so we hope this special home version of Dinosaurs Unleashed will help everyone to stay occupied.

“Our team has made some changes to the app which means that players can still download and play along, bringing the Jurassic era to their living rooms! We’ve managed to retain many of the key features of the app, enabling people to download to hatch and train their dinosaurs in the same way they would have done on site at Liverpool ONE.

“Following a successful Jurassic invasion last spring, we were thrilled to be inviting the dinosaurs back to Liverpool ONE this year. Of course, we took the decision to postpone on-site activation in line with social distancing measures; however, we still want to give families the chance to enjoy Dinosaurs Unleashed as they stay home and stay safe.”
