You could go on a dinosaur hunt at Liverpool ONE with Children’s TV Dino expert, Andy Day

Children’s TV favourite and dinosaur expert, Andy Day, is set to lead a special dinosaur hunt as part of a one-off competition with Liverpool ONE.

The star will meet 20 lucky competition winners to chase Raptors, follow Aptasauruses and, of course, hide from the mighty T Rex, as part of Liverpool ONE’s new dinosaur-themed, free family event which has now officially launched.

Liverpool ONE has teamed up with Andy Day to offer youngsters the chance to meet their idol and enjoy an exclusive story-telling session with him on Tuesday 9 April.

As part of their prize, they’ll join the dinosaur expert on a hunt like no other as they use the augmented reality features of the new ‘Discover at Liverpool ONE’ app to hatch pre-historic friends, feed them and give them exercise, tapping into Andy’s Jurassic know-how along the way.

Donna Howitt, Marketing Director at Liverpool ONE, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to have Andy Day on board and really excited to be able to give visitors the chance to explore this new dinosaur adventure that has stomped into Liverpool ONE just in time for Spring.

“It’s sure to be a jam-packed day for the winners, so it’s a real must for any dino-loving youngsters!”

In addition to the interactive game, dinosaurs have arrived on ‘Chavassic’ Park, providing the ultimate selfie spot, while real life rangers will be on hand to help young visitors to get the most out of their experience, with lots of surprises popping up around Liverpool ONE during the 10-week “invasion.”

Liverpool ONE has also enlisted an expert team of dinosaur educationalists to provide all the prehistoric facts and figures any would-be palaeontologist needs. Teach Rex works with schoolchildren across the country bringing the pre-historic era to life in the classroom.

National Museums Liverpool is also working with Liverpool ONE and has welcomed children to its Dinosaur Gallery at the World Museum in William Brown Street since 1987.

Donna added: “This app is a real first for the UK! We’ve been developing it for some time now and are delighted to finally unleash our dinosaurs!”

The interactive experience will run until June. Visitors will be able to download the app and collect points as they hatch dinosaurs from giant eggs within Liverpool ONE via a range of augmented reality features.

The competition to meet Andy is now open and will close for entries on Wednesday 3 April.
