Young Entrepreneurs to take over Bootle’s Salt and Tar at the 2025 Teenage Market
3 hours ago

The Salt and Tar venue in Bootle is set to once again host a celebration of creativity, enterprise, and community, as the Teenage Market returns this May as part of the town’s Fringe Festival.
Taking place from Friday 23rd to Monday 26th May, the Fringe Festival will present a diverse programme of events, including headline comedy performances, live music, family-friendly activities, curated beer tasting sessions, wellness workshops, and more. The festival aims to bring residents and visitors together for a weekend of culture and entertainment.
Concluding the weekend’s festivities, Bank Holiday Monday will feature the return of the Teenage Market, which will run from 12pm to 4pm within Salt and Tar’s indoor entertainment space. This free event offers a unique opportunity for young people aged 10 to 25 to operate their own market stalls, allowing them to sell handmade goods, test entrepreneurial ideas, and engage directly with the public in a supportive and professionally managed environment.
The market will showcase a wide array of products, including crafts, homeware, jewellery, artwork, clothing, and more. In addition, a performance stage will be available for young musicians, singers, dancers, comedians, and other performers to demonstrate their talents before a live audience

Councillor Paulette Lappin, Sefton Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Economy and Skills, said:
“The Teenage Market is a brilliant event to empower and celebrate our young people, whether they are traders, creators, or performers. Events like this help develop vital skills, spark new ideas, and build confidence in a real-world setting.
“Salt and Tar has quickly become a hub for creativity, culture and community and it’s also a key part of our wider vision for Bootle’s regeneration. By investing in spaces that support young people and bring people together, we’re not just creating great events, we’re laying the foundations for a more vibrant, inclusive and resilient town centre.
“This event is another fantastic example of how we are putting young people at the heart of Bootle’s future. I would encourage everyone to come down and support the talent of tomorrow, there’ll be something for everyone to enjoy.”
The Teenage Market is a recognised national initiative that fosters youth enterprise and creativity by providing opportunities to engage in business and performance in a public setting. With ongoing support from Sefton Council and Salt and Tar, the event continues to offer an important platform for the borough’s emerging talent.
