Your Liverpool Food Guide for the Week Ahead

It’s that time of the week again when we bring you what’s on offer in and around the city for all you foodie types.

Today marks the beginning of National Baking Week (October 17-23), sponsored by Pyrex, and it’s also Apple Day on October 21st, so naturally there’s a whole load of cake coming your way in this week’s Liverpool Food Guide.

National Baking Week kicks off on Monday, an initiative to get families baking together as well as helping little ones learn how to weigh ingredients, develop motor skills and well ultimately, eat cake! It doesn’t matter how old you are, the fun is in making a mess and eating your creations! We’d love to see your after-school/work/uni Baking Week masterpieces so send us your pics on Twitter @TheGuideLpool.

If you love cake but dont have time for the messy bit, we’ve rounded up our top three bakeries to pick up a little (or big) slice of pre baked heaven. Check out the buns on these!

1 – The Baltic Bake House, Bridgewater Street

Food Guide

One of the best 20 bakeries in the UK 2016, The Baltic Bakehouse will entice you in from half a mile away with it’s beautiful fresh-baked aroma. They pride themselves, on not only their bread but also their pastry, particularly their buns, tarts and doughnuts. Each day they have different items available on their counter of deliciousness, but they are liable to sell out quickly, so take a mid-morning break and pick up a tart….or two! More info available here.

2 – Cuthbert’s Bake House, Mount Pleasant

Cuthbert’s initially set up from their home bakehouse in 2006 based in Aigburth Liverpool, working around their demanding full time jobs in the food manufacturing industry, and have now grown into one of Liverpool’s best tea shops for a homemade treat. The Afternoon Tea selection is worth the walk up Mount Pleasant alone. Check out their website for menu’s and opening times here.

3 – Homebaked Co-operative Bakery, Anfield

Food Guide

Of course National Baking Week isn’t all about cakes and sweet treats and frankly you’ve tasted nothing until you’ve had a Kloppie from Homebaked. Literally across the road from Anfield this community run bakery produces some of the most delicious breads, pies and cakes which are a sell out on match days, week on week. A great place to chill out with a hot chocolate and slice of freshly made cake or one of the many butties they make in house. More details available here.

That little lot should’ve inspired you to either get the whisk out or jump in the car for a calorific fix! More information available on National Baking week, including recipes and hint and tips here

Still hungry? Here’s the top 3 Liverpool eateries giving us a serious case of the drools in this week’s food guide. Mid-week bite to eat anyone? Check these out!

1 – Dale Street Eatery, Delkery, Dale Street

Delkery Food Guide

There’s really only three words we need to write here as the picture says it all but, Roast.Lamb.Pizza is about as good as it gets for a filling, autumnal lunch in the business district. Got Winter warmer written all over it! Best start rolling some fresh dough you guys! More on Delkery and their awesome menu’s here.

2 – Root Coffee, Seel Street/Hanover Street

Food Guide Root Coffee

Has a healthy option ever looked so good? Root Coffee served up this dish of blackened corn salsa, avocado, coriander and lime on chunks of fresh sour dough to celebrate Avocado week! Check out their Fcebook page for more info here.

3 – Nolita Cantina, Bold Street

Food Guide Nolita Cantina

Praise to the god of Bacon, how amazing does this look? On the specials board this baked ham and eggs creation from heaven will have you stuffed for hours! Check out the Nolita Cantina for more menu info here.

One to Watch: Chaopraya New Menu Launch

Food Guide

Liverpool One Thai restaurant, Chaopraya launched it’s brand new menu last week, and it’s absolutely packed with a huge range of tasty dishes that take diners on a culinary tour of Thailand’s famous Chaopraya river.

We had a sneaky taste of some of the new dishes and we have to say the curried chicken taco’s, seafood tempura, fillet of seabass, and traditional Thai green curry were DIVINE! Don’t take our word for it though, click here to book your table and browse the brand new menu.

We’d love to hear from you if you’d like to feature in our weekly Liverpool food guide, and send us your foodie pics if you’re dining out in and around the city, @TheGuideLpool
