It’s only opened in the past week and Southport Market’s already buzzing so if you’re looking for somewhere different, a great big feature bar and a choice of 10 different food traders from pizzas to Mexican street food, plus those gorgeous little Portuguese tarts, here’s definitely the place to try.
The views from up on the observation deck of St John’s Beacon are absolutely amazing, and it’s back open so if you’ve never gone up there, now’s the time. You get a 360-degree look across the city and further, just make sure you’ve got your head for heights sorted because it’s 400 feet up!
Think pink and head to Boujee in the Park at Chavasse Park over the weekend for outdoor drinks surrounded by pink flamingos, photo frames, giant lipstick, massive ice cream cones and pretty much everything else pink you could get on an Insta pic. It’s walk-ins only, and there’s loads of bench seating.
This is just what you need if you’re out shopping and it’s getting a bit hot – cool off with a chilled G&T from the Gin Dolly bar in Liverpool ONE. They’re available every day from 12-7pm, just look out for the converted horse trailer bar next to Ted Baker.
If you’ve always wanted to try oysters, or maybe you’re already a big fan, now’s your chance to get some of the very best, direct from the Menai Straits, served by Lerpwl at the Albert Dock. Its oyster cart is out on the dockside and if you just want to start off with one, that’s fine.
Sub Rosa on Kings Docks Street in the Baltic is the place to go for vintage on Sunday because it’s hosting its first Pre-love//Re-love monthly clothing event. Do your bit to cut down on fast fashion throwaways, and find great secondhand pieces plus originals from local makers. Music and drinks too, from 2pm.
It’s been a really tough time for clubs, but now there are new venues opening as well as old ones reopening at last. Basement club Alibi is launching on Harrington Street this Friday, it’s got a seriously stunning sound and light system and plans to bring in some big name DJs alongside resident Rob Cain.
Reminisce is bringing back all the big party vibes at Camp & Furnace on Saturday, and it’ll be broadcast live on In Demand Radio. There’s a massive line-up of DJs and PAs including Angie Brown, Rozalla and 2 Funky 2 for a guaranteed night full of bounce back anthems and classics. 8pm-2am.
No need to even think about amber or amber plus or whatever, because you can get all the feel of Ibiza without the hassle of actually getting there at La Finca Eivissa. Gorgeous tapas, great cocktails and sangria that’s as good as any you’ll find this side of Spain.
It’s perfect weather to head to Martin Mere and the Giant Summer Duck Hunt is back on, so you can go in search of all 25 of them! The centre’s fully reopen so feeds, boat tours and den building have started again and always there’s masses to see and do.
Everyone knows Yard & Coop on Hanover Street has incredible buttermilk fried chicken, now they’ve just launched a new menu and there’s a special kids’ one with a main and a dessert for a fiver. Choose your sauces, choose your fries and throw a few tasty bits on the side.
Our city centre businesses are getting back on their feet again after restrictions, so show them a bit of love by supporting the new Sundays in Town campaign to get us all out and enjoying everything our great city’s got to offer. If you like a laugh, and we could use some, don’t miss Ellen and Rigby at the Royal Court because it’s full of them and it’s only on for two more weeks. Catch our Lindzi Germain and Andrew Schofield in a really funny love story of our times until Sat Aug 7.
The team behind Salt House Tapas and Bacaro on Castle Street is opening up a new French bistro, Bouchon, on the site of the former Rocket & Ruby on Derby Square. Bouchon’s menu highlights will include oysters, French onion soup, charcuterie boards and a classic tarte tatin so it promises to be something special.
For cocktails and a nice little tan top-up all in one then head to PINS on Duke Street where their rooftop’s waiting with plenty of both. It’s open until 10pm on Saturday and 9pm Sunday, there’s music and stone-baked pizzas, and it’s walk-ins only so no need to book ahead.
