This time next week it’ll hopefully be pressie wrapping and new PJs all the way, with maybe a few mulled wines to get us all ready for the big day.

We’re well and truly coasting towards Christmas now, so if you’re looking for ways to max-out the festive fun, here are 10 things to do this weekend in Liverpool …

Jamie Webster plays the Olympia

It’s been an incredible year for Liverpool singer-songwriter Jamie Webster, so what better way to finish it than with three huge sold-out home gigs at the Olympic tonight, tomorrow and Sunday. If you were lucky enough to grab a ticket, prepare for a night of powerful and political anthems to get you all fired up for the New Year.

ABBA Christmas Boogie at Camp and Furnace on Sunday

This Weekend In Liverpool

You can’t beat a bit of ABBA to get everyone up and giving it their best Dancing Queen so get down to Camp and Furnace on Sunday for ABBA Christmas Boogie and an amazing night of non-stop disco. There’s a live tribute band, indoor snow, Christmas cocktails, DJs, and just full-on ABBAmania. 6pm-11.30pm.

Last weekend to experience Liverpool Christmas Market

Even if you’ve already done all your pressie shopping (and really you’re bound to have missed someone) then Liverpool Christmas Market is still a fantastic festive place to spend a few hours, wandering around the stalls, having some great Christmassy food and don’t forget the Big Wheel and rides especially if you’re taking the kids.

See Dreamgirls at the Empire

If you’ve never seen it in the West End, and you loved the film with Beyonce and Jennifer Hudson, then don’t miss this fabulous stage production which is absolutely stunning and on this weekend in Liverpool. It’ll give you goosebumps from start to finish with massive songs like One Night Only, Listen and the classic I’m Telling You I’m Not Going.

Pigs in blankets and sprouts like you’ve never had before at The Quarter

OK, we know sprouts aren’t everyone’s Christmas favourite, but don’t be judging them until you’ve tried the ones at The Quarter up on Falkner Street. Honestly, they’re sticky and gorgeous, not like little green bullets, and they’ll make you totally rethink everything – plus you can get the classic pigs too, so Christmas really does keep on giving.

Cinderella launches at M&S Bank Arena

Nothing gets you quite in the mood for Christmas like a good panto, and this is a really good one. Our Leanne Campbell’s back waving her wand as the Fairy Godmother in Cinderella, with Bippo adding laughs as Buttons and X Factor’s David Heath as Prince Charming. It’s a big production full of great sing-a-long songs, dance routines and special effects. From Saturday until December 28.

Indoor Funfair launches at Exhibition Centre

Liverpool Indoor Funfair was a massive hit at the Exhibition Centre back in the summer and autumn, now it’s back again for a pre-Christmas run from this weekend until Thursday December 23. There’s 24 amazing rides and attractions, all undercover so you don’t have to worry about freezing or getting wet, and a wrist band gets you three hours worth of unlimited goes.

Christmas Dinner at Baltic Social

Want one of the best Christmas feasts in Liverpool? Head over to Baltic Social where you’re in luck because they’ve had some spaces open up on their sold-out Bottomless Christmas Dinner this Saturday and Sunday. See the UK’s best Beatles tribute at Punch Tarmey’s

If watching the Get Back documentary got you feeling like a Beatles night out, get along to Punch Tarmey’s in Cains on Saturday because they’ve got The Beatles For Sale, the UK’s number one tribute band, on in the Courtyard. It’s 7pm to 10pm for a Fab live music session.

Luminate continues to light up Victoria Park in Southport 

Treat the kids (and yourself) to a trip to Victoria Park over the weekend and catch the spectacular Luminate winter light trail.  When it starts to go dark it’s absolutely magical, walking through the light displays while ambient music plays around you. Entry is between 4.15pm and 8.30pm and tickets for time slots need to be booked in advance online.
