11 Christmas concerts in Liverpool to get you feeling festive

There’s nothing like the sound of well-loved carols or festive favourites to fill you with seasonal spirit.
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, and it will soon be sounding like it too, with all the fantastic Christmas concerts in Liverpool.
There’s loads being hosted across Liverpool City Region, so jingle those bells and rock around that tree, here’s 11 you need to check out!
The Muppet Christmas Carol in Concert, Liverpool Empire
Tuesday, November 28: 7.00pm
Join Kermit, Miss Piggy, Gonzo, Fozzie and the rest of the crew at the Empire on Tuesday, November 28, when Disney’s The Muppet Christmas Carol film is screened live in concert, with its musical score brought to life by The Novello Orchestra conducted by David Mahoney. Tickets from £23.

Coffee and Carols – Liverpool Cathedral
Tuesday, December 5: 2.00pm
Get into the Christmas spirit and treat yourself to Coffee and Carols – and maybe a bit of cake from the Cathedral’s Welsford Bistro! Then listen to its brilliant Cathedral Choral Scholars who will perform a range of traditional carols and popular songs.

Carols by Candlelight in aid of the NSPCC – Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King
Tuesday, December 5: 7.00pm
NSPCC Carols By Candlelight returns to Liverpool’s Metropolitan Cathedral to celebrate the festive season with performers from across Merseyside, including the talented PopVox Choir, Cheshire Chord Company, Wirral Youth Brass, and Whitefield Primary School Choir. Tickets are £10 (children under 16 are free when accompanied by an adult) and every penny raised goes to supporting the NSPCC in Merseyside.

Vivaldi Four Seasons at Christmas – St George’s Hall
Friday, December 8: 7.30pm
Enjoy an outstanding musical evening in the run-up to Christmas with Vivaldi’s timeless classic, in the spectacular candlelit setting of St George’s Hall Music Room. The Piccadilly Sinfonietta will treat you to a feast of classical masterpieces, including Mozart’s famous Piano Concerto in C Major, and Corelli’s Christmas Concerto. Tickets are available from £19.

Leona Lewis: Christmas with Love 2023 – M&S Bank Arena
Saturday, December 9: 7.30pm
Leona Lewis brings ‘An Evening of Christmas Classics and Greatest Hits’ to Liverpool as part of her major UK tour. Her song, One More Sleep, has become a new Christmas classic and she’ll be singing that and more, in this fab festive concert, including O Holy Night and I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday. Lipa Christmas Concert
Sunday, December 10: 5pm
Take a break from the chaos of Christmas preparations to enjoy an evening of Christmas songs, festive classics, carols and seasonal melodies performed by students from the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA). The annual, feel-good, family concert at the Philharmonic Hall features the LIPA Big Band, strings, choirs, vocalists, and dancers in an evening of yule-tide light entertainment, with tickets from just £6.

Saturday, December 16, and Tuesday, December 19, and Thursday and Friday, December 21-22: 7:30pm
Host Kadiatu Kanneh-Mason returns to help the Phil celebrate the most wonderful time of the year with its legendary Spirit of Christmas concerts. There’ll be classic carols, audience singalongs, seasonal readings, music from local star mezzo soprano Kathryn Rudge – and even a few magical surprises. It just wouldn’t be Christmas without it! Clatterbridge Christmas Concert – Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King
Thursday, December 14: 7.30pm
Sit back as Wirral Orchestra and Choir take you on a sleigh ride of Christmas favourites, and sing along with the carols as you kick start your Christmas celebrations with some Clatterbridge sparkle. Radio presenter Pete Price hosts the evening in aid of Clatterbridge Cancer Charity in which you could also enter a raffle to win a shop full of festive treats courtesy of Tesco. Home Alone in Concert – M&S Bank Arena
Friday, December 15: 7.30pm
Everyone’s Christmas favourite, this comedy classic features renowned composer John Williams’ delightful score performed live by The Heritage Orchestra to the film shown on a giant HD screen. Macaulay Culkin stars as Kevin McCallister, an eight-year-old boy who’s accidentally left behind when his family leaves for Christmas vacation, and has to defend his home against two bungling thieves. Candlelit Carols – Royal Philharmonic Orchestra
Monday, December 18: 7.30pm
Enjoy an amazing concert, immersed in a candle-lit setting, and surrounded by the magic of the festive season. Expect carols like ‘Hark! Alder Hey’s The Jolly Oli Christmas Concert – St George’s Hall
Tuesday, December 15: 7.00pm
Alder Hey Children’s Hospital is holding a Jolly Oli Christmas Concert to raise money to make patients’ experiences even better – and take the chance to celebrate the festive season with all its supporters.
The concert will be held in St George’s Hall on Tuesday, December 12, when there’ll be music and song from local choirs, as well as fun activities, competitions, and raffles.
Our Jay Hynd will be hosting the event at which six choirs will perform!
There will be food and snack stalls, and a range of fun activities, and ‘some surprises’ throughout the evening. Tickets start from £7.50
