things to do in Liverpool

We were loving Celebrating Bold Street over the weekend – and doing a cheeky fill-up on loads of amazing food samples! – now it’s all about what’s happening over the next week.

If you’re looking for inspiration, here are 12 things to do in Liverpool and the surrounding areas this week…

Southport Flower Show is on this weekend

Southport Flower Show is back at Victoria Park from Thursday to Sunday, which means a packed weekend of gorgeous gardens and floral displays, entertainment including a dog display team and birds of prey, food and drink, a huge shopping village plus celeb cooking demos from the likes of Masterchef’s John Torode and Lisa Faulkner, Phil Vickery, and Liverpool’s own Gabriella Margiotta.

Enjoy lunch at Gaucho

Gaucho on Water Street is already a firm favourite with anyone who knows their steak and you don’t have to wait until dinner to tuck into the tastiest cuts. The lunch menu is just as special, including sirloin or rump, or a fillet steak salad if you fancy something a bit lighter and summery (or you just want to leave room for the chocolate volcano dessert!)

You get three hours of unlimited fun for all the family, with plenty of rides for little ones plus some like the Terminator 3 Matterhorn making their Liverpool debut.

Get red carpet ready because Bongo’s is having a Night at The Movies this Thursday. It’s at Content in the Baltic as usual, with all the standard bingo mayhem but with an added movie theme so you can dress up as your favourite character for the crowd sing-a-longs and prize dance-offs. Just remember, no fake weapons or full-face masks.

If you’ve not checked out Hardware on Renshaw Street yet then you really should. The clue’s in the name – it’s where the old Rapid Hardware used to be – now a cool little coffee shop and kitchen with a great menu including top breakfast dishes like Hardys builder’s butty with bacon, hash browns and avo, or a Hardys toolbox aka a Full English, traditional or vegan.

Book on to the LFC Stadium Tour

With the new season up and running, and the big title and trophy chase on again for the Reds, there’s no better time to go behind the scenes and see how it’s done. It’s an absolute must-do if you’re a massive fan because you get to see Anfield in a different way, including lots of amazing photo opps, and relive some incredible moments in the club’s history.

A Greasy Spoon continues at Liverpool’s Royal Court Theatre

This new comedy’s been getting some fantastic reviews and it’s on until August 26 so if you like a laugh on a night out, make sure you don’t miss it. Lindzi Germain and Hayley Sheen make a brilliant pair as Mandy and Shannon, café workers who find themselves in hot water after a murder (which they may well have committed!).
