We’ve ticked off Halloween, Bommy Night and River of Light on our 2023 to-do list, now we’re coasting towards the big one. Liverpool’s events diary is absolutely packed at the moment, so here’s our pick of 13 things to do in and around Liverpool this week …
The Mousetrap at the Floral Pavilion
If you’re an Agatha Christie fan then this play is a must-see – but be sure to keep the ending a secret because that’s one of the reasons The Mousetrap has stayed so popular. It’s on its 70th anniversary tour, stopping off all this week at the Floral Pavilion New Brighton with Todd Carty among the cast.

Scouting for Girls at O2 Academy
With hits like She’s So Lovely, This Ain’t a Love Song and Elvis Ain’t Dead, indie three-piece Scouting for Girls burst onto the scene in 2007 with their triple platinum debut album. Since then it’s been arena tours and festivals all the way, and now they’re back on the road and at Liverpool’s O2 on Tuesday.

Diversity on two nights at the Philharmonic Hall
They’re the UK’s best known and loved dance troupe and BGT winners Diversity’s live performances are always family-friendly spectaculars. Their latest tour Supernova, choreographed by Ashley Banjo, is their biggest to date and it’s coming to the Phil this Tuesday and Wednesday.

Lush Christmas Grotto
Lush lovers will want to make sure they’re on Santa’s nice list for this one – fill up your stockings with goodies and treat yourself to a visit to the new Lush Christmas Grotto experience which launches this Friday til Christmas Eve, including a product making workshop for their famous bath bombs.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory The Musical
Roald Dahl’s classic story never gets old – it’s about to hit the big screen again with Timothy Chalamet as the magical chocolate maker – and this stage version has everything fans love in one feelgood musical, songs from the original film and new ones from the writers of Hairspray. At the Empire from Wednesday until November 26.

The Streets at Mountford Hall
The Darker The Shadow, The Brighter The Light released last month was The Streets first full-length album for more than a decade, tying in with frontman Mike Skinner’s labour of love debut feature film of the same name.He’s taking it on a huge headline UK tour, coming to Mountford Hall on Thursday.

Chester Literature Festival at Chester Storyhouse
Launching this Thursday and running until November 26, Chester Literature Festival at the Storyhouse features a line-up of talks, workshops and performances including some familiar faces from TV like gardener Monty Don, chef Andi Oliver, historian David Olusoga and presenter Melanie Sykes.
Waterloo: A Tribute to ABBA at M&S Bank Arena
Dig out your sparkly catsuits and grab your favourite Dancing Queen because this is going to be an ABBA-solutely fantastic night! See the smash hit touring tribute show with two hours of back-to-back songs spanning 50 years, plus amazing visuals, costumes and choreography. On Friday at the Arena.

AZYR at Grand Central
This Friday catch techno DJ and producer AZYR – aka North West-based Olly Rowley – at The Dome at Grand Central on Renshaw Street. After massive nights in Ibiza over the summer, he’ll be bringing his trademark hard-hitting high energy set to Liverpool on the second stop of his All Night Long tour.

If improvised jazz and hip hop are more your kind of music, also on Friday but over at Future Yard in Birkenhead, Berlin-based band Move 78 are touring their third studio album Grains. They’ve gained a worldwide following on Spotify and are known for highly original spontaneous live performances.

Bootle Children’s Literary Festival (Dragon Fest) at Kingsley & Co
Charity YKids is hosting the 4th Bootle Children’s Literary Festival until Saturday, designed to get kids engaged in reading and fire up their imaginations. With the theme of fairytale, myth and legend, BCLF will be based at Kingsley & Co., YKids steampunk-inspired bookshop inside the Strand shopping centre.
