After the clocks went back last weekend it’s definitely starting to feel a bit more wintry, which is always a good excuse to cosy up in front of the telly.
But there’s still loads happening in and around Liverpool if you’re looking for decent reasons to drag yourself away from Netflix.

Oktoberfest at Camp and Furnace
Massive steins and oompah-ing are back for one last time because we can’t get enough of it. The October dates were such a hit that Camp and Furnace have added an extra November one, this Saturday. Get the full-on Bavarian experience, with German beers, street food, costumes and live music from 6pm to midnight.

Last chance to see the River of Light Trail
No fireworks this year, but what River of Light lacks in big bangs it makes up for in fabulous illuminated artworks dotted all along the waterfront and the city centre. Get your phone ready for lots of pics, follow the trail and you’ll find all 12 on a 2k route, it’s free and it’s only on until this Sunday so don’t miss it.

Watch 9 to 5 the musical at the Empire
Tumble out of bed and stumble to the kitchen …. then get to 9 to 5 the Musical at the Empire because you’ll hear Dolly’s famous hit and more in a feelgood musical coming to Liverpool direct from the West End. It tells the story of three workmates turning the tables on their sexist boss and stars Louise Redknapp. On until Saturday.

Day of the Dead at Southport Pleasureland
Halloween might be over but there’s still the Mexican Day of the Dead to look forward to and Southport Pleasureland is all dressed up with brightly-coloured skulls for the celebration on Saturday. Join the fiesta of entertainment, live music from the Katumba drummers, fire eaters and spinners, DJs and a fireworks finale.

Lucy Spraggan plays Arts Club
It’s been almost a decade since Lucy Spraggan impressed the judges on X Factor and in that time she’s gone on to have a successful career as a singer and songwriter. Her most recent album, Choices, reached the top 5 in the UK album charts and she’s now touring with that, coming to Arts Club on Seel Street this Saturday.

Lee Butler’s Birthday Ball at The State
Lee always throws an amazing a birthday bash and this one’s on Saturday at the iconic State on Dale Street. He’ll be on the decks himself and joining the birthday boy will be Mike Knowler and Paul Rimmer, Ste Cocky, Ian Longo, Mark Simon, Les Calvert and Jay Montessori.

Off the Dock Road, Blackstone Street Warehouse has a big club night this Saturday with Detroit DJ and remix master MK. He heads a line-up which includes John Summit, Lee Foss, Cloonee, Eden Prince and Paige Tomlinson. 2pm to 11pm, over 18s only.

There really is something for everyone on at the cinema right now, from the Marvel Universe to the Royal Family, and the Everyman’s got the pick of the new releases, plus Bond in case you’ve not got round to seeing it yet. And, because it’s the Everyman, you can watch with food and drink delivered to your seats.

If you’re looking for something different to do with a group of mates, where you can get some food and drinks too, then try Point Blank Shooting on Castle Street. Take your pick from hundreds of different games on simulated shooting ranges, then winner buys the wings, cocktails and frosted steins (or maybe the loser, you decide).

The Cavern is always a great bet for live music whatever time of day or night you find yourself on Mathew Street and on Saturday you get two stages to choose from. The Live Lounge has artists on from 11.45am including The Cavern Club Beatles from 7.15pm and the Front Stage has a live line-up all the way through from 1pm to 2am.

If there’s a few of you out for something to eat, it’s always handy to have choices and Southport has got lots whether you fancy a burger, traditional Greek, Mexican, pizza, some amazing pastries or just a drink or two from the bar. No roast is really going to rival your ma’s (not unless she’s a terrible cook) but Ma Boyle’s Sunday roast has got to be the next best thing.
