The heat’s finally on with tons of stuff happening across Liverpool City Region this summer.
From music festivals to fun for the kids and amazing arts events, there’s going to be no trouble filling your calendar across Liverpool this August.

Anish Kapoor – Monadic Singularity
This is a once-in-a-lifetime show as British-Indian sculptor Anish Kapoor brings his visionary works to Liverpool Cathedral. Monadic Singularity is his first solo show in a UK cathedral and major solo show in Liverpool since 1983, featuring works spanning 25 years and architecturally-scaled pieces never before seen in the UK. It runs from Saturday, August 10 to Sunday, September 15.

Eonarium Enlightenment at St George’s Hall
Throughout August, you can enjoy this immersive experience exploring the four seasons through a breath-taking visual and auditory experience, with the melodies of Vivaldi’s ‘Four Seasons’ accompanied by spectacular visuals.

Bees: A Story of Survival – World Museum Liverpool
This latest exhibition at World Museum is creating more of a buzz than most. Bees: A Survival Story is a stunning and immersive adventure that explores the tales of these amazing creatures and their relationship with the natural world.

Salt & Tar Music Festival – Tom Jones and Status Quo
The legendary music artists will be performing at the canal side event space in Bootle on Friday to Sunday, August 16-18. Sadly, Sir Tom’s sold out but there are still tickets for those ultimate rockers on Friday, along with other fab supporting acts, and there’ll be a food court and bars open too. If Status Quo aren’t your thing then Red Rum Club might be – and they’re at Salt & Tar on Thursday, August 15, with special guests, The Farm.

Liverpool Celebrates Mathew Street at the Pier Head
It’s 10 years since the last Mathew Street Festival so to commemorate the milestone there’s going to be a special four-day music festival at the Pier Head over the Bank Holiday Weekend, Friday, August 23 to Monday, August 26. Fantastic acts include Holly Johnson, The Lightning Seeds, and China Crisis, as well as local acts, tribute bands and a special Bongo’s Bingo Experience with Jonny Bongo!

Southport Flower Show
It’s the largest independent flower show in the UK, and this year it’s celebrating its 100th anniversary promising to be one of the best yet. Get to Victoria Park to enjoy four days of show gardens, floral displays, live cookery demos, celebrity guest appearances and a pop-up home and garden shopping village as well as lots of live entertainment. It’s on from Thursday August 15 to Sunday August 18.

International Beatleweek Festival
It’s the 38th International Beatleweek Festival with top tribute bands celebrating all things Beatles and beyond. It’s on from Wednesday, August 21 to Tuesday, August 27, and as well as loads of great music, there’s a Beatles Convention, guest speakers like Paul McCartney’s former PR manager Geoff Baker, and new events like the Mad Day Out to New Brighton.

Big Luv Summer Festival – BOXPARK
Big Luv Summer Festival is at BOXPARK on August 25 with two rooms of music and a garden party too! The Main Stage is hosting John Kelly, Lee Butler, Robbie Edwards and Paul Rimmer with a live performance from Abigail Bailey.

Liverpool Indoor Funfair – Exhibition Centre
The fun of the fair returns to Liverpool with 18 action-packed days at the Exhibition Centre. As always you can expect jaw-dropping rides and attractions all under one roof, from the dodgems, the funhouse, and the ghost train, to an inflatable play centre and more.

You’ve got until Sunday, August 18 to visit this amazing annual event at the Royal Liver Building. Celebrating its 10th anniversary, you can see work from more than 200 artists from across the North West with the chance not just to view it, but to buy it too.

The city centre shopping complex gets a gold for celebrating its own Summer of Sport, with a giant screen on Chavasse Park showing the biggest sporting events live from now until September 8. Cheer on your favourite stars and treat yourself to a celebratory drink or dinner if they win.

Mighty Red appears during Anfield Stadium Tours
Don’t miss your chance to meet the official LFC mascot, as Mighty Red gets set to make special appearances at Anfield on Saturday, July 15; Friday August 11, and Friday August 25. Young supporters can get photos and autographs, and take part in games, crafts and footballing skills.

Dave Kirby’s back at the Court with the hit sequel to Lost Soul, and Smigger’s having a mid-life crisis, longing to roll back the years and dance to 70s’ soul music with Donna, Terry and Pat. On from Friday, August 16 to Saturday, September 14, expect loads of laughs and a great soundtrack.

Full Monty and Corrie actor Neil Hurst stars as Edna Turnblad in the hit musical still packing a punch with its message of tolerance and the fight against racial discrimination. Bubblerush at Wavertree Park for NorthWest Air Ambulance
Join North West Air Ambulance for its inaugural 2024 NWAA Bubble Rush event at Wavertree Park, Liverpool, on Sunday, August 25, and raise money for the life-saving charity. You can run, walk, toddle or dance through the pushchair and wheelchair-friendly fun run – but you can’t escape the four foam-filled bubble stations.

A new free family festival will celebrate the last days of summer on Saturday, August 31. It’s organised by Liverpool BID Company, Culture Liverpool, Royal Albert Dock Liverpool and Peel, and will see four key areas across Liverpool’s waterfront offering food and drink, family workshops and activities, and a wellbeing hub, along with shows, performances, and so much more.
