5 reasons why you should visit Winter Wonderlight

Advertorial
If there are two things we love at Christmas, it’s a bit of sparkle and the chance to spend precious family time together.
And you can combine them both in a fantastic festive experience at Thornton Manor.
You’re guaranteed to create the best memories for you and yours with a visit to the magical Winter Wonderlight within the gardens of the spectacular historic manor house in Thornton Hough.
For as night falls this winter, the grounds will come alive in a stunning, multi-sensory walk-through wonderland spectacular.
Think twinkling lights, the sounds of Christmas and, just maybe, an opportunity to see the man in red himself.
And if that doesn’t get you heading there faster than Santa’s speeding sleigh on December 24, here’s five more reasons that will…
1. It’s just half an hour from Liverpool City Centre
You’ll find Winter Wonderlight in the beautiful grounds of Thornton Manor which is just 30 minutes’ drive from Liverpool city centre. A trip through the tunnel and along the M53, and you’re there in no time at all.
2. This year it’s bigger and better
After Covid forced a smaller installation in 2021, this year’s Winter Wonderlight has been supersized to make the walkaround experience even more special. You can stroll through illuminated tree canopies and twinkling tunnels and skip along snowy paths and rainbow roads. There’s a Fairylight bandstand and an amazing Alice in Wonderland area, and a breath-taking light show finale in the Snowball Arena that brings the night sky to life. But will you be able to find the Secret Elf Village? This is Christmas made more magical than ever!
3. Santa’s grotto
Did you hear what we heard? Yep, Father Christmas has taken a little time away from his workshop to be on hand with his elves to listen to little ones’ Christmas wishes – and make sure they leave with a gift to tide them over to the big day. There’s also a Post Box that takes those letters straight to the North Pole for anyone who hasn’t sent their lists yet.
4. Dog friendly
It’s not just people who can get excited about this spectacular seasonal event. Every Thursday at Winter Wonderlight is dog friendly, so you can go along with that other favourite member of the family. All you need to do is make sure you add on a free dog ticket when you make your booking and treat your furry friend to an extra-special walk this festive season.
5. Festive food & fairground rides
As well as being able to enjoy the light-fantastic, this year the walled gardens will house a whole host of additional festive fun! There are fairground rides to make sure the excitement lasts even longer, and independent food traders will be on hand, offering all your favourite Christmas treats – think pigs-in-blanket hotdogs, mulled wine, hot chocolate with marshmallows, buttered pulled-turkey rolls, and lots of other mouthwatering winter warmers.
There’s no better way to end your visit to this wonderful winter trail, and wish each other a very Merry Christmas!
