5 Reasons you need to see Bat Out of Hell at Liverpool Empire
16 hours ago
The reimagined production of Bat Out of Hell – The Musical is set to rock Liverpool Empire on 20 January, bringing Jim Steinman and Meat Loaf’s legendary music to life.
Here are five reasons why you don’t want to miss Bat Out of Hell – The Musical:
A larger-than-life rock experience
Bat Out of Hell is more than a musical; it’s an epic rock concert fused with a gripping love story.
Glenn Adamson, who plays Strat, calls it an “absolute rock-and-roll party” with music and visuals that are nothing short of spectacular. Expect a futuristic, post-apocalyptic setting, jaw-dropping performances, and rock anthems.
“It’s like going to a gig, but with a great story being told,” Glenn said.
Featuring an eight-piece live rock band the production is an adrenaline-pumping rollercoaster from start to finish.
Iconic songs
From You Took the Words Right Out of My Mouth to I Would Do Anything for Love (But I Won’t Do That), the musical incorporates timeless hits from the Bat Out of Hell albums alongside previously unreleased tracks like What Part of My Body Hurts the Most.
Actor Katie Tonkinson, who plays Raven, said: “The songs are full of drama, and every lyric tells a story. They’re perfect for a musical because they’re theatrical and poetic.”
A story that blends fantasy, love, and rebellion
Set in the dystopian city of Obsidian, the musical follows Strat, the immortal leader of a group of rebellious youths called “The Lost,” and his forbidden love for Raven, the daughter of the city’s tyrannical ruler.
“It’s a love story, an adventure, and a fight against the system,” says Katie.
Watch an award-winning show
The original production premiered in Manchester in 2017, getting rave reviews and awards, including the Radio 2 Audience Award for Best Musical.
Rob Fowler and Sharon Sexton, who have been with the show since its debut, say it’s an evolving production that stays true to Steinman’s vision while captivating audiences with new elements.
Perfect for all the family
Whether you’re a lifelong fan of Meat Loaf or discovering his music for the first time, Bat Out of Hell offers something for everyone.
Actor Sharon Sexton said: “Parents bring their kids and rediscover themselves through the music. It’s amazing to see grandparents sharing their record collections with their grandkids after the show.”
