Have you spotted the Dock Ness Monster? Join the hunt plus loads more free fun this Easter.

Heritage on the Dock brings four days of family fun to Albert Dock on 5th-9th April 2018. Helping to entertain the kids during the Easter holidays, this celebration of culture and history brings the waterfront to life with attractions for visitors of all ages and the best bit is, it’s free! Fill your weekend with boat trips, street theatre, live music, craft sessions, story-telling, walks, talks and maybe even a Dock Ness Monster! Make sure you’ve got your camera ahead of a long weekend of making memories at Albert Dock.

Here’s 5 things you need to know about Heritage on the Dock……

1 – It’s Free!

It’s Easter, the kids are off, you may have family up for a visit and April pay day seems some time off yet. Thankfully Heritage on the Dock comes smack bang in the middle of the Easter hols with a four day programme packed with free activities that will delight visitors of all ages. Get sticking and gluing, discovering aquatic creatures, join a leisurely walk or listen to the secrets of Albert Dock, all without spending a penny.

2 – Take a Walk on the Dockside

Why not get some fresh air fun and take an hour’s stroll through the fascinating history of Albert Dock with Blue Badge Guides from Liverpool City Walks. This series of 10 walks spans the first two days (Thursday 5th -Friday 6th April) of Heritage on the Dock and includes collaborations with a number of partners including; Tate Liverpool, RIBA North and Liverpool’s Anglican Cathedral. Discover hidden secrets of the UK’s largest collection of Grade I listed buildings as you wander paths we all know and love – with the odd additional behind the scenes sneak peek!

3 – What Lurks Beneath

Let your little explorers get hands on with creatures that lurk beneath Albert Dock this Easter and join Lancashire Wildlife Trust to hunt for the Dock Ness Monster. Grab a net and Dock Safari guide to see how many eels, crabs, jellyfish and more you can count. Don’t forget your camera just in case Nessy makes a rare appearance.

4 – All Aboard The Floating Grace

What better way to view the stunning Albert Dock than from the water? Heritage on the Dock gives you the chance to tour the south docks from The Floating Grace, Liverpool’s only floating restaurant. Not only the perfect way to rest for feet for a while, but the boat also has refreshments on board including a licensed bar too so you can raise a toast to the best view in the city!

5 – Arts, Craft and Story-telling galore

Make sure you’ve had your Weetabix because there’s so much for the kids to see and do at Heritage on the Dock. From Titanic story-time at the Maritime Museum to Victorian craft at Museum of Liverpool and plenty of street theatre in between. Listen to ‘Tales of the Mersey Moggies’ get your cymbals at the ready for a music lesson from yesteryear and hear choirs perform at multiple sites across the waterfront, bringing together a real feast for the senses, for young and old to enjoy.

Keep your eyes peeled for an all singing, all dancing time travelling adventure during Heritage on the Dock as Typhoon & The Pedal Players go on an amazing journey through space and time. Their steam-powered time machine is broken, and the Pedal Players are stuck in a time continuum. They’ve been cycling in circles for centuries, telling the hidden stories, myths and legends of Albert Dock, and need your help to make it back to the present.
