6 free music nights you can enjoy in Liverpool

Liverpool is famous for music, and there is a good reason why… Where else can you experience live music every night of the week, completely free?

Places like The Cavern of course have live music on every night of the week.

There’s nothing better than sitting down with a pint of your favourite tipple and supporting some local talent, so with that in mind here’s six music nights you can go to for FREE in Liverpool. 

Cains Brewery – Cains Brewery Village, Stanhope St

Liverpool’s iconic brewery since 1850 has been revived. Cains beer has been synonymous with Liverpool, the skilled team pour their heart and soul into brewing their fine handcrafted ales, and you can enjoy them with a bit of live music. With everything from Jazz bands to DJ’s – Cains will have something to suit everyones taste.

Carlisi – Dale Street

Every other Thursday the family run Sicilian bar hosts local jazz band The Alchemy Trio. It is one of the liveliest nights at the bar, and attracts everyone from the Italian community, jazz lovers, and newbies that quickly turn into regulars to the Thursday antics. Great cocktails and wine selection, paired with classical jazz numbers… jazz is making a huge come back and these fellas know exactly what they’re doing.

Frederiks – Hope Street

Located between the cathedrals on Liverpool’s iconic Hope Street, Fred’s has been the hub of the Georgian quarter since 2013 and is the home of Hope Street Jazz. Running since 2018 Hope Street Jazz has been a pioneer of the thriving Liverpool alternative music scene – and has recently expanded to four nights a week. Creating a magic atmosphere complimented by Frederik’s great drink selection, it is a great place to have a little dance and a cocktail or two.

Shenanigans – Tithebarn Street

A true independent Irish bar in Liverpool City Centre which is full of good craic! Shenanigans is famous for its warm and friendly welcome, quality drinks, and live music. It has been said that they serve up the best Guinness in Liverpool, you can pair this with their live music events. Whether it be traditional Irish music which takes place fortnightly on a Wednesday, open mic night on a Thursday.

Friday Night Band Stand has launched at PINS – you can expect fantastic live acts on their stage, accompanied by some gorgeous cocktails, and boss indoor games as well. Check them out to book a table – or enjoy yourself stood at the bar with your mates. It runs from 5.30pm until late. Definitely a night worth checking out.

Jazz Saturdays’ at Ma Boyle’s

If you love your jazz then Saturday’s at Ma Boyle’s are for you. Infused with and inspired by the magic of New Orleans and Brazilian beats to the simmering back streets of Paris. Parrjazz have helped create a new wave of jazz appreciation in Liverpool, and the free weekly sessions at Ma Boyle’s have done much to develop this and bring new artists to the city as well as returning familiar faces across the forthcoming weekends.
