With only a seven weeks left until Christmas Day, what type of person are you? All sorted and wrapped by September… Or last minute rushing around trying to make sure you haven’t forgotten anything… or anyone?

Well if you’re stuck for ideas for that perfect Christmas prezzie or if you’re just after a little sneaky one for a stocking filler, why not shop local at one of our amazing independent retail shops… here’s some inspiration for you!

Scouse Bird Shop – Tarleton Street

Ever fancied hitting a piñata with Thatchers face on it? Well now you know where you can get one. The Scouse Bird Shop boasts everything it is to be a Scouser with the majority of its products made in the merseyside area, and if it’s not, it’s something that owner Steph Johnson would want to use herself. 

The Aladdin’s Cave of boss Scouse things has it all – from from jewellery to Scouse Bird branded hot chocolate – it won’t take long to find that perfect gift for ANYONE. 

The ten-year anniversary of the Scouse Bird Diary is coming up, and Steph has brought back her favourite designs from across the years to celebrate this seasons diary launch.

MerseyMade – Paradise Street

Recognising that there was no permanent outlet for local makers to showcase their work in Liverpool City Centre, the MerseyMade founders began their mission of establishing a unique creative hub.They are now focussed on growing the vibrant and diverse community of creatives and aim to connect the MerseyMade artists and makers to a much wider audience.

You can get stunning prints of Liverpool, created by some of the in-house artists at MerseyMade, beautiful jewellery, as well as homeware and beauty products. You could even take five minutes, to grab yourself a coffee and a cake, while you take a breather from all that shopping.

The Nest – Albert Dock

The Nest opened its doors at the Royal Albert Dock in May 2018. Since then, they have become a haven of all things design-led. They proudly sell the work of wonderful local artists, designers, photographers, and makers, and often collaborate with their creative buddies to bring you unique and exclusive goodies.

Think beautiful art, ceramics, jewellery and gorgeous greetings cards. The Nest in the Royal Albert Dock is great local choice to grab a gift for a loved one this festive season.

Freida Mo’s – Lark Lane

Frieda Mo’s is an independent vintage fashion boutique, bakery cafe and event space selling everything from vintage vinyl and vintage fashion to home baked cakes and hand blended herbal teas. They pride themselves on being experts in the field of vintage fashion dating from 1900 – present day. 

Named after the owners two grandmothers, Freida Mo’s is a place for the extraordinary. Step inside their wonderland and get lost in a sea of positivity and vintage treasure.

The Art Quarter  – Metquarter 

The Art Quarter Liverpool is a collective of artists from Liverpool and the Wirral, Customers can find artwork that is affordable, often with a local theme and made locally – so, not only are you supporting local artists –  When you buy a piece of work from them you are helping an individual, an independent business, and supporting the local economy too. 

Art they have available includes paintings, illustrations, photography, glasswork, greetings cards, home wares and jewellery. Commissions are available too.The artists run the shop themselves and are there to talk about the stories behind their work. The collective are more than just a retail outlet, they support each other by bringing a different set of skills to the group.
