7 reasons to light up your half-term holiday with Fiesta of Fire
8 months ago
Advertorial
It’s one of the best half-term events across the city as the Royal Albert Dock comes to life and light with the spectacular Fiesta of Fire.
It’s back this year, bigger, better, and hotter, than ever and the kids are going to love it (almost as much as you).
Fiesta of Fire offers free fire performances over half-term
Everyone in the family is going to love the Fiesta of fire with amazing flame-filled and fiery performances between now and Saturday. It’s one of the most dramatic spectacles of fire and light you can expect to see and it’s all for free, with choreographed fire shows and freestyle fire performers from Bring the Fire Project showing off their pyro-skills. Expect dazzling martial arts-inspired routines, flaming sword fights, and more on the Martin Luther King Jr. plateau!
New for this year is a free fire walk on Thursday
How brave are you feeling? Because if you fancy being a daredevil – and you’re over 18! – you can test yourself by walking over sizzling hot embers which reach temperatures of more than 1200°C. That’s hot! It’s taking place between 2pm-4.30pm at Hartley Quay and with only 70 spaces available it’s on a first-come first-served basis via Eventbrite (and anyone taking part will need to attend the 90-minute safety briefing beforehand.)
Comic-Con superhero and iconic TV character parade
See some of your favourite superheroes or iconic TV characters as the Comic Con Liverpool parade arrives at the Dock on the Inner Quay between 1.30pm and 3pm on Saturday, February 17. It’s your ideal chance to snap a selfie with Thor or rub shoulders with the Game of Thrones cast!
Giant fire-breathing dragon
Flames will be shooting high into the air when the incredible three-metre high fire breathing dragon returns to the Dock, roaring its way around Martin Luther King Jr. Plateau and Hartley Quay with four performances between 2-6pm on Saturday, February 17. Definitely one you can’t – and won’t – miss!
The Dock is home to some of Liverpool’s finest restaurants
So you can treat yourself and make a real day of it with a pre-fire show lunch or post-fire show evening meal. You can choose from the likes of Lunya Lita for Catalonia-inspired tapas dishes, opt for the perfect pasta or pizza at Gusto, or what about Maray, serving up a small plate menu of mouth-watering Middle Eastern inspired dishes, and more.
Valentine’s Day sees Burning Hearts return to Britannia Courtyard
Talk about the ultimate loved-up selfie opportunity! If your heart’s on fire for that special person in your life you can show them – and the world – just how much. Between 6pm and 8pm on Wednesday, February 14, there’ll be a unique flaming hearts selfie spot at Britannia Courtyard.
Make the most of a day at the Dock
It’s not just the incredible Fiesta of Fire or the thought of gorgeous food that’ll have people flocking to the Dock, it’s home to some of the best indie shops and world-class attractions too. How about a visit to Merseyside Maritime Museum to learn more about the city’s maritime past and see its superb Titanic Exhibition, a trip to The Beatles Story to find out all about the Fab Four, or the chance to get the adrenaline pumping in Escape Hunt? Or if you fancy a spot of shopping, you’ll find all sorts to enjoy splashing your cash on from quirky jewellery and home furnishings at Nature’s Treasure, to top trainees and t-shirts at celebrity fashion favourite Lost Soles, to perfect mementoes at With Love from Liverpool, and that’s just for starters.
