8 of the best Liverpool Panto’s to see this Christmas

It’s that time of year again, oh yes it is!

Christmas isn’t just about the big day itself, it’s the build up, the lights, the shopping, the daft jumpers……everything that comes with it and one Christmas tradition that never gets old is a Panto! Liverpool Panto’s are not only a treat for little ones, but a night of comedy, songs, drama and laughs for theatre goers of all ages. Luckily for you there’s tonnes to choose from across the region and we’ve lined up the best.

Here’s 8 of the best north west panto’s to enjoy this Christmas…

1 – Aladdin, The Echo Arena

From 15th to 24th December 2017 the young, and young at heart, will be able to cheer on Widow Twankey and her son, Aladdin, as he tries to win the heart of the beautiful princess Jasmine. Featuring Radio City Brekkie Queen, Leanne Campbell, Britain’s Got Talent stars Michael Augar and Ruby Murray and Liverpool favourite, Dean Sullivan (Jimmy Corkhill) this is a superb family afternoon out. 2 – Cinderella, Liverpool Empire

Liverpool Empire audiences shall go to the ball this festive season, with none other than Cinderella, from 16th December to 7th January.
Join Cinders as she transforms from rags to riches and outwits her very Ugly Sisters in this magical pantomime starring Hollyoaks, Blue and musical theatre star Duncan James as the handsome Prince Charming, I’d Do Anything winner Jodie Prenger as the Fairy Godmother and Comedian John Evans as Buttons. 3 – Peter Pan, Epstein Theatre

Go on a high-flying adventure to Neverland this Christmas as LHK Productions present J.M Barrie’s classic tale, Peter Pan, in another sensational panto extravaganza. 90’s boyband star Dane Bowers leads the all-star cast as Captain Hook, our very own Claire Simmo will be adding lots of glitz and sparkle as Tinkerbell; and everyone’s favourite Dame, Michael Chapman will bring his hysterical capers as The Darling Family Cook. 4 – The Everyman Rock N Roll Panto, The Little Mermaid, Everyman Theatre

The Everyman rock n roll panto is the plaice to be this Christmas (and until 20th January 2018) as The Little Mermaid swims into town. Writers Sarah A Nixon and Mark Chatterton have adapted the well-known tail that never flounders, with a live band, plenty of laughs and more than a few surprises The Little Mermaid is the perfect festive treat. Unlike any other panto in the city, our multi-talented cast sing, dance, entertain and play music live and are sure to make The Little Mermaid shrimply the best for all ages. 5 – Jungle Book, The Unity Theatre

This fun festive treat for ages 5+ will be an imaginative, all new re-telling of Rudyard Kipling’s classic tale The Jungle Book. Filled with music, dance and of course Mowgli’s unforgettable journey, this is a whole host of jungle fun for all the family. 6 – Snow White & The Seven Dwarfs, St Helens Theatre Royal

St Helen’s Theatre Royal is lining up a star-studded panto this Winter as comedian and actor Johnny Vegas and former Corrie and Wild at Heart actress Lucy Jo Hudson bring the fairy tale of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs to life. Running from Saturday 2nd December to 7th January 2018, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is packed with slap-stick comedy capers and hilarious family fun in one of the regions most loved venues. 7 – The Scouse Nativity, The Royal Court

Oh Come ‘Ed Ye Faithful, gather round for the greatest story ever told, with a hilarious scouse twist. Journey afar to Bethlehem as lonely shepherd Terry joins his mates on the ale at the King Herod Arms with his mates and Angela Gabrielle, a donkey on wheels, a shark fin and side-splitting songs and gags bring this age old tale, right up to 2017. Christmas just wouldn’t be the same without a Royal Court panto and The Scouse Nativity is the perfect Christmas play for the grown ups, on now until 13th January 2018. 8 – Baskerville: A Sherlock Holmes Mystery @ Everyman Playhouse

Theatre at Christmas isn’t all about panto madness, why not plan a little winter date night or even work night with a classic murder mystery? Sir Charles Baskerville is dead, a look of horror on his face and near to his body, the footprints of a gigantic hound. Has the curse of the Baskervilles struck again? Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s gripping classic, The Hound of The Baskervilles, is brought to the stage, with just 5 actors bringing 42 vivid characters to life. Join Holmes and Watson on the misty, mysterious moor for a tale that explodes into life with comic genius, wit and intrigue. The show runs until 13th January 2018 and you can get your tickets here.
